All grass campground with HUGE spaces on the Sooke river. WiFi was spotty without my external adapter but the hosts are great. It's very quiet and close to shopping and a good place to stay to hit all the wonderful beaches and spots from Victoria to Port Renfrew. Lots of weekend tent campers make it a nice family park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is an older community park/fairgrounds on the shores of the Sooke River, 45 minutes from Victoria. Services include water, power (15 and 30 amp), a sani-station (no on-site sewer hookups), coin-operated showers in a rustic unheated restroom, and a small-boat launch onto the Sooke River. The campground hosts an annual Bluegrass Music Festival and the town's Canada Day celebration, so the grounds are very busy at those times. The nicest sites are 1-6 along De Mamiel Creek; Wi-Fi works from that location. Sites seem over-priced for the level of service and age of the facilities, but the location is good for those who enjoy canoeing, kayaking, or simply watching geese float up and down the river. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
