We were just passing thru and hubby wanted to tour the Nascar areas, so we picked this campground for 1 night. It was very clean and quiet and everyone was friendly. It is a no-frills campground tailored for the race crowds.Very close to the racetrack and Concord Mills. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rate reflects weekly fee, which included electric. Owner does not accept credit cards. Cash or check only. Finding the entrance is difficult and after entering there is a very difficult right turn to get to the office. Be careful of low hanging tree limbs. The park is divided between camper sites and mobile homes on permanent sites. Mostly grass sites but there are a few paved 30amp sites. Utilities are suspect because of age and amateur installations. Fresh water bib is buried in ground and sewer connections are too close to the fresh water connection. Be sure to disinfect the fresh water connection. Sites are not very level and the surfaces are not hard so blocks under the leveling jacks are a must, particularly if it has just rained. The noise from the speedway can be annoying. Good restaurants close by and the best Walmart and Lowe's hardware store we have found anywhere. Make a reservation at the Speedway Club for lunch, absolutely fabulous and very very reasonable. The tour of the Speedway and the NASCAR Museum are excellent even if you are not a NASCAR affection ado. After you are shown your site, that is the last you will have any assistance from the owners. Unless you need to be near the Charlotte Speedway a different location may be more suitable. We may return but I would request a site on the hill near the entrance. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We needed to be in the Charlotte area for two months and chose Apollo for our home base while we were there. We found the campground owners to be extremely friendly and accommodating to our needs; the other campers in the park were friendly and nice; and the park is in close proximity to many activities, shopping, dining, and NASCAR. We are not race fans but were there during the Bank of America 500, enjoyed watching the crowds, and were pleased that there was not a great deal of noise at this park as there tends to be at the parks closer to the track. We will stay at this park again when we are in the area visiting family and highly recommend it. There are no restrooms or bath facilities at the park so a self-contained rig is necessary. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rating is based on comparison to other parks in the area. The Concord area is home to NASCAR and as such, the campgrounds are, for the most part all bare bones lots. They were great with our kids and love our new puppy we got while we stayed there (2 months). What is so great about this one is that it is so close to the track: 8/10 of a mile. Easy access to the freeways, shopping and dining. We would stay here again. Rate was monthly. Nightly when we were there was $30. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
