Not a bad overall place to stop for a night or two but certainly would not be a destination spot for us. The good news is the sites are level, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and the facilities seem clean overall. The bad in our opinion: all of the river front spots are tied up for the entire season with long term rentals. Many of these are people that just leave their RV's during the week and commute in on the weekends. Same goes for the cabanas that are advertised as available to rent. All of these are rented out and set up as permanent party huts for the same people that have the river front spots rented out. So if you were hoping to rent one and have dinner by the river: forget it. The spots are all very close together with no dividers of any type. In our case we were next to a trailer that was backed in, so we shared the same patio area. Finally, the Wi-Fi worked OK, but every time we tried to get back on we had to go to the front desk and get a new password. If going back to the area I would look elsewhere first, but it's not terrible if you can't find anything else. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rate reflects monthly per night and they charge 17 cents per kilowatt for electricity. This is an excellent park with very poor management that has no clue as to how to treat there guests. That is the reason for the low rating. I and two other parties made reservations one year in advance for specific sites on the river so we could spend the month together as friends do. Months later management informed us that one of our parties would have to be moved to an off river site because longer stay patrons had priority. When we arrived at the park our other party was moved to a different site instead of being right next to us as we had planned. We heard of several complaints from others of this nature. When confronted with these complaints the manager just looks at you dumb founded and was completely unaccommodating to our original reservation requests. Great park...lousy management. We will NOT stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We checked in with two dogs which they knew about but didn't bother to tell us there was a fenced dog park near by. In fact we were given no information other than when happy hour was. Our site was next to some sewer connection and we constantly got whiffs of sewage. The wifi doesn't work but the one at the bar did. The bar only has Chardonnay and Riesling for white wine. There is no pool and no place to swim in the river but then the river is too cold to swim. There is no cable tv and no off air TV. The site was level and large enough. But for the cost we were not happy and left early. We camped here in a Motorhome.
After staying at many RV resorts in Parker AZ for many years I must admit this was a really neat change. The whole place feels like you are in a pirate oasis. Most of the river spots have dirt to sit in when you look at the river views. Pirate's Den RV Resort took the time to bring in white sand so you feel like you are on a beach. There are a lot of RV Resorts in Parker but I must say Pirate's Den RV Resort is one of the most clean and well kept RV parks in Parker AZ. Pirate's Den may not have all the amenities like a swimming pool etc but really who needs all that when you are on the beautiful Colorado River. I also must add they have an amazing new restaurant called the Black Pearl that overlooks the Colorado River as well that is fair priced an has extraordinary food. So if you love the scenic views of Parker Arizona I would recommend stopping by and checking out Pirate's Den RV Resort. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The price reflects the nightly rate. This park is being created from part of the La Paz County Park. This park will be very nice when finished, however, right now they are misleading people to think that this is a high-end RV Park and charging high-end prices. When I booked the reservation in the fall they stated they had cable and sewer, both of which are not yet available. They changed our site that we booked and confirmed prior to arrival without telling us - and we are not the only ones this happened too. For monthly's, they will come pump your tanks once a week, which is clearly not enough. Wi-Fi is free, however works every couple of days and when it does work it is painfully slow. Whoever designed this park obviously does not know the RV business and all the river front sites were built for Motorhomes only. Technically the river front sites should be back-in sites (they are configured for Motorhomes to pull-in) and if you have a 5th wheel or travel trailer the utilities are on the wrong side. If you do not have a river front site, you have no access to the beach or water. This is not an overly friendly park either. This park is full of rumors, like Class A only rigs, no rigs older than 5 years old, etc. And you get all of this for $495/month plus 17 cents per kilowatt hour. Again, this park has potential, however for now, the owners should be more honest about the amenities and the prices they are charging. We stayed here for a couple of days and enjoyed our stay, however to stay longer than that without sewer hook-ups just wouldn't work for us. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
