We stayed here for a weekend in July so we could tour West Point. The positives about the campground are that it's a very pretty facility that surrounds a large pond. The bathrooms were fairly modern and clean, the staff was friendly, and the sites were roomy. It was just a few minutes from West Point so it was perfect for our purposes. Unfortunately, as much as we liked the positives, the negatives were also substantial. First off, the campground is right next to several artillery ranges. We heard gunfire and heavy artillery almost non-stop from 7 AM until late in the evening (at least 10:30 some nights). Although we thought it was rather funny and part of the ambiance, if you have kids that are light sleepers or dogs afraid of fireworks or thunder, rethink coming here. Also, we were at a site at the back side of the pond which was very tight to park in. We had to make a 90 degree turn into a driveway with a fence on each side, and a sheer drop down the side of a hill on the other side of the road. Also, the bathrooms were a very long walk down a narrow road for the few sites that were past it. The dump station was near the bathrooms and the road around the campground is one-way, so if you are in the sites past it, you need to actually leave the campground and come back in to use the dump station on the way out (and back in to it!). Next, we thought we'd be fine using our own facilities for the weekend since the web site states that they have honey wagon service for $5. When we showed up, however, we were told that it was actually $8, and only offered on Fridays and Mondays. Doesn't do weekenders a lot of good. Lastly, as others have mentioned, the road into the campground is very steep and very winding. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a really nice setting on a small mountain lake, some distant artillery and firing range noise during the day. Verizon wireless phone coverage was good but data connection is slow. Great for visiting West Point. No swimming pool, but they have a nice swimming beach. Access road maybe intimidating to some, but presented no problems for 36 footer with toad (53 ft total). We would definitely stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A return visit for us. Nice, no frills campground but not near anything. Steep and windy entrance. Big rigs need to be careful of the s-turns. We used the campground as a "base" to visit New York City (55 miles) and to do laundry. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Campground was adequate. The drive up and down to/from the highway and campground was about as steep as I want to try. However, the road was recently re-paved, and it was no problem. The staff was efficient, and we had no issues with our time at the campground. The campsite was in a large gravel U-shaped area that we had to back into at a diagonal, but we did that with no problem. We had a view of the lake. We were there to see the USMA at West Point and the campground served its purpose. We would do it again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice campground, but the road up to it can be a challenge for larger RVs. Site areas are not marked and staff not very helpful in ensuring you know where to go. The CG is beautiful with a mountain lake setting and lots of activities to include lake swimming, volleyball and hiking. If we were to return to the West Point area we would stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice campground and a good place to spend a few days. No satellite TV access but local channels off our digital antenna was adequate. The facility is relatively old but it is in very good shape and well care for. The drive up to the campground off the highway was fairly steep but the road is recently paved and we had no trouble towing our Honda in our 40' motorhome. The office personnel were friendly and efficient and it was no trouble getting into our campsite. The campsite could have been cramped but it was only 1/2 full. It again was adequate and we had a nice view of the lake. The campground was very convenient for spending the day at West Point touring the grounds and seeing the terrific museums on campus. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
