The actual rate was $3.50 per night, which reflects a 50% Federal Senior Pass discount. This is not a campground you will happen across, but if you do go to the trouble to find it, you will be rewarded. The 13 mile drive from highway 522 is slow but is easy and all on paved roads. Do study the directions on the website as your GPS may take you on a "shortcut" down a gravel road. The campgrounds are laid out on short gravel spurs off of a 6 mile paved loop road. You will want to stop at the fee/information station as you enter the site. The map you will get is critical to being able to find your way around. In terms of sites suitable for RVs, there are 5 areas. They are as follows : El Aquaje with 7 campsites, La Junta with no campsites except a handicap site, Montoso with 4 campsites, Little Arsenic Springs with 6 campsites, Big Arsenic Springs with 6 campsites. Many of the sites are fairly unlevel, but they are all well-separated and beautiful. This is really a campground for smaller RVs. There is fresh water for filling a tank, but there is no RV dump. There are vault toilets. There are no campsites that can be reserved. There is a Visitor Center that is open during the prime season and when staff is available during the off-season. There are great hiking and biking trails. Our Verizon phone worked well. Our Verizon data worked most of the time if we used our booster. This is certainly a campground we will return to. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Price reflects senior discount, sites normally $7. Pit toilets, no hookups, but threaded faucets scattered throughout campground. Sites level and very widely spaced. It's a 13 mile drive from highway 522 to the campground areas (there are several, but each just has a handful of sites) but it is paved all the way. Roads in the campgrounds themselves are gravel, but mostly in decent shape. Some were washboard. Campground elevation is 7500 feet. Scenic views abound. Sites have sheltered, covered picnic tables. Taking into consideration that this is a boon docking campground, it still deserves a full 10 star rating, due to the fine views, excellent hiking trails, and huge spacing between sites. We camped here in a Motorhome.
