This area is no longer an Oklahoma State Park. It was sold some 10 years ago to private investors. We visited this former park during a day trip to check out the campground. Years ago this was one of Oklahoma's premier state parks, so we wanted to "relive youth" and plan a camping trip. Glad it was only a day trip. Yes, there is still a campground and a campground host, but the facilities have fallen into ruins needing dire repair. There is a row of pull through sites, approximately 20, that are still usable though in need of repair. All other sites range from barely usable to unusable - trees need to be trimmed for low branches, grass and downed limbs need to be tended, trash and broken bottles needed to be picked up, etc. The marina appears to be closed and sits in Catfish Bay like a ghost town. The lodge has long been torn down, but the cabins sit abandoned. Driving from the highway back to the camping area is like entering an "end of earth" movie with all the abandoned buildings falling apart in disrepair. The investors never started building the high end resort they proposed when they purchased this park from the State. We will not return to this area as it makes us sad when we remember its former glory. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We have stayed many nights at this park over the last 30 years and planned to stay here on our return home but did not actually stay the night due to the conditions of the park. There a few clean sites with views and access to Lake Texoma, and still serves well as a fishing campsite, but the surrounding park area is quickly crumbling or awaiting demolition in prep for a long delayed new housing development. I consider it unsuitable for most travelers. There are much better alternatives 15 miles East or West. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Camped at Catfish Campground. Very nice, long, gravel pull thru site with burn ring (burn ban in effect), BBQ and picnic table. Nice view. Older bathes that could use updating but very clean. Camp volunteers and rangers very nice and informative. Look forward to staying here again for a longer stay. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed one night at the Denison Dam site next to the river on the south side to visit with a dear friend who has been work kamping there for a while. Easy to locate, glad we got there mid afternoon to get a space as this is a small area. Enjoyed a lovely visit with our friend. I noticed late at night there were folks parked along the road next to river playing music and stuff making me feel a bit uneasy. Our friend said there had never been any problems. We do not camp in state or national parks that much so it was more us than the those parked by the water. The whole area is huge and interesting. Area we were in was very clean, tidy. Sewer dump was very clean also. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a really nice state park. I have no idea for the older poor ratings. Asphalt pads, really long and easy to back into. We stayed in Bens Campground. Full hookups and easy satellite setup. Great view as the lake is on three sides. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I give this park a very low rating and would not even stay there as the campsites were too close together and very hard to tell which site was available because there was no order to the sites that we saw and they were just very close. Absolutely no privacy, whatsoever. We will not go back to this OK park. We traveled back to Texas just to stay in their State parks. Drove through in Oct. 2003. Gave it a 3 just to give a little grace because I did not actually stay. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

There are 3 camp areas in the state park: Catfish Bay, Ben's, and Joe's. We stayed at Ben's. This area has full hook-ups, paved level sites, some shaded. The park has an 18 hole golf course, 4,000 foot airstrip, lodge with restaurant, nature center, full marina, and riding stable. Next to the park is an arcade with batting cages, putt-putt, and go-cart track. The lake is huge, and there are several sandy swimming areas, numerous boat ramps, and handicap accessible fishing docks. Fishing is great and guides are available at marina. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
