Hawkins is a rather small park with large pine trees. It is very attractive, but the sites are wide open (no privacy). It is somewhat of an "anything goes" park (multiple units per site, loud music, park on grass). I'm not saying that any of this bothered me, just making you aware. There is only one shower and one toilet in the bathroom, so plan on waiting. They do allow you to reserve a specific site. They have a large area for tent campers, a very nice sandy beach, boat ramp, fishing pier, volleyball courts and a couple of cabins for rent. It's about 4 miles to the town of Hawkins, where there's a grocery and a few other stores. It's about 26 miles to Tyler. If you like a somewhat secluded, quiet place where other campers can't really see everything you're doing, Lake Hawkins RV Park is not for you. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Nice little park on beautiful small lake on Highway 80 East out of Dallas. It's a county park, some sites are newer than others. They actually encourage campers to let their grey water run onto the ground, say it's good for the grass. Midway between the small East Texas towns of Mineola and Hawkins, right off Highway 80. Tall pine trees, nice little lake with lots of fish! Man-made sandy beach right on lake, nice for the kids. Be sure and go during the week, however, as it seemed to get quite crowded from Friday evening through Sunday morning with local tenters. Boat ramp, with plenty of parking for your boat trailer too. We camped here in a Motorhome.
