Rate reflects the Good Sam rate in the adults only/executive section of the park. Phenomenal RV park! No complaints whatsoever. Very beautiful setting. Everything is in tip top shape. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the adults only section, and the adults only pool. Water, power, and cable were good. Wi-Fi was OK, it took some constant tinkering, as some networks seemed to "time out" or freeze up. But, there are enough Wi-Fi networks available, I would just connect to another network and it worked fine. BBQ dinner and ice cream social on Sunday night for the Labor Day weekend were well attended. My only wish is that this park was closer than 4 hours from home for us. We will be back for sure, and I would recommend this park to anyone. Office staff and grounds staff were great, and the store in the office was well stocked, and had very fair prices ($3 for a good sized bottle of BBQ sauce, probably would have cost $4 or $5 at HEB). This is our favorite park we have stayed in yet, and we did so based on the reviews on this site. Thanks Buckhorn for a great time, and keep up the outstanding work! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Excellent RV park. Site was a long, concrete, level pad with plenty of room between sites. No real shade to speak of at the waterview sites, so took a pull-through. Our site (#6065) had lots of shade, so would recommend. Wi-Fi worked great, and cable had plenty of channels. Easy access from I-10, but a little road noise comes with that. Couldn't hear the noise inside the RV. Plenty of walking space, and there is an off-leash dog park. Rate reflects a Good Sam discount. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rate is after Good Sam discount. Always A++++ RV resort. Strong WiFi, shade trees, immaculately maintained, very nice staff, great for rally's, quiet and easy access off I-10 freeway. About 7 miles into town and about 4 miles to HEB grocery store. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Do not often give a 10 but this is one RV park with resort in the name that actually is one. Level concrete pull-through and back-in sites. Rate is for back-in with Good Sam discount. Good facilities, e.g., event hall, 2 pools, etc. Has a private owner-only access area, an adult only area, and a general area. Laundry is a bit pricey but comes with the upscale features. Curbside daily trash pickup. Will stay here the next time through this part of TX. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is an exceptionally good resort. All pads are level concrete and all drives are asphalt or concrete. Grounds were neat. There is an excellent park for walking dogs that includes a large fenced area for activities off leash. Our rate was a rally rate. There were excellent meeting rooms for the rally. Only downside was constant noise from gasoline engines on pressure washers during the day. It is an upscale community and many "coach washers" were on site each day. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nightly rate for river view (well worth it!). Showers large and clean, heated swimming pool. Hookups were great, good water pressure and electrical power. Concrete pads, asphalt roads, landscaping. (We choose our parks based on RVParkReviews.com, so we "luck out" more often than not.) We would give this one an 11 if it were possible. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We are in our 12th year of fulltime RVing and this park is in the top five of all the parks we have stayed. There are very few parks in this country where the WiFi is good. So, we have our own MiFi which is what anyone who really needs the internet should have. Thus said, I give this park a 10/10 rating. Friendly staff, convenient, good cable, clean, nice sized lots. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a big rig friendly park. Showers and laundry are a little far from perimeter. Has leased sites across the stream and an adult only section. Facilities are well planned and sites are separated nicely, with many trees. Utilities all functioned properly. Although in sight of I-10, noise is minimal. Easy distance from Fredricksburg. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice resort. Concrete pads and roads, well maintained facility with a nice store (wine!) and cabins (we didn't use them). Decent WiFi. There are fancy houses on the other side of the "river/lake/whatever" that divides the motor homes (etc) from the houses. It was a little too up-scale for us. The only reason this place doesn't get a 9 or 10 is the road noise, which is aggravated by tire noise on the I-10 bridge. We would stay here again especially if we want to explore the hill country. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is very nice but I can't give it a 10 because the WiFi is very slow. Neither of the pools are heated even though the park is full. Yes it is immaculate with paved roads, concrete pads, grass, two pools, fitness center, most pull thrus, a stream, and ponds. At the price and with such great amenities, it is inexcusable today to have such poor WiFi. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a really nice park in a great location to travel and visit the Hill Country. The TV was OK, nice pool and activity room. There is also a very good store. The lots are adequate in size. There is entertainment in the barn that comes to the resort for a dinner and show. When I was there they had a country singer that had a few records out and people came from outside to hear him. There are trips from the resort by bus. The downside is the Park is pricey. $245 a week plus electric. I was charged $40 for one weeks electric and because I didn’t read the meter when I got there. Oh well. I have never had a electric bill over $118 a month at their .14 Kw rate. They advertise free internet and it is basically non existent. But you can buy internet from them for $7 a week. I had propane delivered while I was away and that was added to my bill but I never got the bill. I really liked the place but I felt like I got nickel and dimed at every turn. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Not as "homey" as some of the other TX Resorts we have frequented but nothing missing from being a true Resort. Pools (one adult and one kid friendly), exercise room, event hall, outdoor grill, fishing on the property, large off leash dog park, kids play area, seemed a little narrow getting to our site and a bit hard to turn our 45' around the corners, but there were some shaded sites and we fit fine with all 4 slides out. There is the ability to lease casita's if you own a Class A rig. Lots of events. On the down side, close to major highway, very near large utility wires and I only was able to get WiFi after 11pm. Other than road noise, it was quiet. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here one night in a motorhome and was impressed with the park. Concrete pads, paved road, and nice patio along with being well maintained. Easy access from I-10. We will stay here again and spend more time in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was our 4th Thanksgiving to spend at Buckhorn. Every year the Thanksgiving Dinner gets better. Met lots of new people. Short drive to town with lots of shopping. Fast check in with nicely stocked store on site. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice park! Just off I-10 but not much road noise. Didn't get a chance to see the big barn where they have concerts and gatherings, but the whole park is kept up very well. A very nice fenced in dog run under lots of pecan trees. A nice pond and stream view from some of the sites. I will stay there again next time I am in the Kerrville area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Upper tier of RV parks/resorts. Absolutely the best in amenities. There is a new off-leash dog run area that is huge and grassy. We love Buckhorn and will definitely come here again. My only complaint is the terrible Wi-Fi consisting of very weak signals rendering the internet useless most of the time. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a very well maintained, well managed and spotlessly clean Resort. Staff were helpful and friendly at check in. Roads are paved. Sites are concrete, ours was a pull through and very level. Big rig access was good. Very quiet with plenty of space around the RV to park the towed. The landscaping is wonderful, plenty of shade trees, grass and shrubs between each site with a table and chairs on the concrete patio. The pools and spas are spotlessly clean and have a lovely view from the deck. The lakes and ponds are stocked for catch and release fishing. Bathrooms and laundry are the cleanest I have ever seen, well equipped and well thought out. Pet friendly and lots of places to walk your pet, or let them run free in the Dog Park, pick up bags are every where, and they do have a strict pick up after your pet policy. WiFi is marginal but cell is good. Plenty of food stores, restaurants and sightseeing are close by. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a beautiful park with all paved roads and sites. It is definitely upscale and is truly a resort. The park is very clean and well maintained with helpful staff. It is a very nice to walk around. The only problem was the Wi-Fi, which was unusable. This was made worse by the fact that our Verizon aircard would not work in this area due to poor reception. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This has to be the nicest and prettiest park we have stayed at in the country. It is spectacular. We had a site in the adult only section and we loved it and would choose this section when we returned. The sites are very spacious with a private patio with furniture. Everything is spotlessly clean and manicured. The landscaping is superb. The bathrooms, laundry and pool area are immaculate. I could not find any fault with the park at all. The owners are super nice and helpful. This is #1 in our book and we will definitely return. The other park in town is very nice but this one is the best. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here 15+ years ago and looked forward to seeing this park again. We were disappointed for a number of reasons. We stayed here on the second Sunday in October and had a FHU, pull-through site. The site was not level and it took 2 boards to get level. There were only 36 channels on the cable TV. Most sites appear to be satellite friendly. The WIFI worked at first, then dropped every few minutes, and finally disconnected for goo about 7 PM. The office was already closed by this time so I could not ask them to reboot the system. The park was less than half full, so user overload was probable not an issue. When I first checked the bathroom, it reeked of feces. In case it was just a matter of bad timing, I checked 3 more times during our stay. The potent stench was evident with every visit. Some facilities were not available on a Sunday night in October. I did not find the staff as accommodating as others have. When asked about the availability of coffee (available only in the morning) and a vending machine (large bottles of pop can be bought at the store), the response was rather snippy - as was their reply when asked about recycling. 5 RV parks in Texas on this trip and none does any recycling. Then there is the prominently displayed photograph of the young girl of maybe 7 making the obscene gesture with her finger as part of a political statement. If you want to express your political beliefs, fine. Just don't use a young child to do it. From the facilities not being good or working properly to the staff attitude, we did not have a "10" experience.. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very nice resort - excellent rally facilities (rate is rally rate), although there didn't seem to be any effort to put all rally attendees together. Very nice pools and hot tubs. Beautifully manicured lawns. Very few shady spots. Back-in spots may not allow you to stay hooked up, but pull-thru's are plenty long. The freeway noise is fairly significant, 24/7. The Wi-Fi was not good at all - constantly dropping the signal. The area is not great for Verizon Mifi - you only get 3G, although cell phone reception was fine. (That's true of Kerrville in general). We would stay again (for a rally only). We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
An excellent campground. We stayed here about 4 years ago, and they have continued to build and add sections to the park. We stayed in the "Adult" section, which is in the back of the park and farthest from the road noise. Very well kept grounds and maintained facilities. I will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
No question, the nicest RV resort we have stayed at. The roads are wide, paved, and the pads are cement with an adjoining patio area. The office staff is excellent and will go out of their way to make you visit enjoyable. The resort and the facilities are immaculate, and the sites are level with either a picnic table or table and chairs provided. They also offer RV storage if needed. Electricity is billing based on usage. The WiFi was good 95% of the time. This is a destination resort. We definitely will return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very nice Resort. We stayed in the executive section during the Labor Day weekend. Well laid out with space, concrete pads, patio with grass around. They had four chairs with a round table in each of the sites, other areas had picnic type tables. There is a pet play area which had plenty of space in it and one bench for the park to use. Also they provide pet "pet waste bags" at various stations around the park. Unfortunately, the drought has had an effect on them, drying up several of their man-made ponds. There was a water restriction going on. Still there was a catch and release small pond that we saw people and their kids using. Had a nice Saturday morning breakfast and a Sunday evening BBQ and ice cream social. Wi-Fi was not so good at our location, weak signal and kept dropping. I thought was strange because their access point looked like it was straight across me on the next street over. We will definitely return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Remains one of our favorites on yearly cross country trips. Easy on/off I-10, but no highway noise. Lots of room between sites. All facilities in excellent condition. Well - run. A pleasure to stay here. We will return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nicest RV park we ever stayed in. Immaculate. All paved sites. Some shaded. Beautiful dog park by river with nice breeze. Shaded areas along grounds. Playground. Huge park with manicured grounds. Elegant feel. Excellent Wi-Fi and full hookups with good cable. Nice and quiet and close to I 10. Friendly courteous check in. Security 24/7. Five star resort. Would definitely stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Beautiful park. True RV Resort in every sense of the word. Pristine sites, tasteful amenities, courteous staff. An absolute delight. Stayed there 5 nights, including July 4th. They provided a parade and 40 minute fireworks display that was breathtaking. Lots of activities for young and old. Weather in TX Hill Country is cool mornings and evenings. Afternoon heat not too bad since humidity is low. Nice location for taking day trips to other Hill Country towns. Magnificent scenery! We plan to visit Buckhorn frequently. We camped here in a Motorhome.
First 10 I have ever given to an RV park. A park can't receive a 10 unless it has a nice pool, hot tub, workout room, paved streets, cement level pads, good cable TV, central utilities, and good Wi-Fi. This park has all this and more. The grass between sites is GOLF COURSE quality. Beautiful facility. We stayed in the Adults Only section. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a destination RV park. We first visited the area 10 years ago before the park had Wi-Fi. Beautiful setting, all the conveniences, excellent Wi-Fi, long pull-throughs with grassy areas all around and a concrete patio with table. Newly installed dog run. An adults only area and pool. Could easily spend a season here but we were just passing through and only stayed three days. Will go back again if in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
FMCA Rally rate was $32.00 per night, stayed 7 nights and we have stayed here before. Buckhorn is a 5 star park just off I-10 east and beautifully maintained with very spacious RV concrete parking pads & streets, some shade trees, water streams, tiff and bermuda grass, gravel, picnic tables, very nice rally halls, adult gym, 2 pools - one is all adult, trash pickup each am and security. Easy drive to Kerrville, Fredericksburg and other interesting towns. We had WiFi and did not use theirs. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Always enjoy our stay and have been coming here since 2007. The grounds are kept well and the water features are great. Some of the Club area residents were rude and unpleasant to be around, while others were very nice. Wi-Fi is a coin toss, depending on where you are parked. Lots of good places to eat in Kerrville. We stayed as a guest of a "Club member lessee". We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is easily one of the nicest, most well planned and executed parks in the country. Whoever designed this park should be doing more of the same elsewhere. The sites are very large and many have beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. The pools, outbuildings, and office are built to the highest standards using fine construction materials and quality craftsmanship. I honestly can't think of a single negative issue at this resort. It certainly is first class. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Have stayed here several tines before. Very convenient to Interstate 10 and the town of Fredericksburg. A bit of a haul to San Antonio. Very nice check in - fantastic facility and everything is just done so well. Easy pull-thru sites with toad. Exceptionally clean and well organized. Friendly atmosphere even though we stayed for just an overnight. Will stay here at every opportunity. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Fourth time we've stayed here and as usual - one of the best parks in US. Just stayed overnight but as usual, facilities were super clean, staff helpful and TV/WiFi excellent. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The price reflects a rally rate that is much lower than the usual $42 a night. There is a separate ‘adults only’ section with 20 sites with it’s own pool, restrooms, showers and laundry. There are another 111 sites in the rest of the park with a second pool, restrooms, showers and laundry. The park itself is very well maintained with long, spacious concrete pads. The water pressure and electricity were all good with an easily accessible mid-pad sewer connection. The roads are all paved, nice and wide for maneuvering a big rig. Sites are angled to facilitate easy backing in or pulling through. Although the WiFi was free, frequently it was painfully slow or very often would disconnect altogether. Normally that wouldn’t have been so bad, except the Verizon service was almost non existent, so we were forced to use the park WiFi and suffer with it. DSL is available for a price, but I refuse to pay a park for better internet service, as that just reinforces their business logic of providing poor free service to entice you to pay for it. There is a nice enclosed dog run which our two greyhounds appreciated, and were able to run and chase each other to their hearts content. You can schedule an RV wash or propane delivery at your site and their is daily garbage pickup at your site. To tell the truth though, if it had not been for the rally rate, we would not have considered staying here as it is far to pricey. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed 5 nights in site 6023, which is a back-in that is adjacent to Goat Creek Rd. Pull through and back-in sites all have long concrete pads and patios with a picnic table. Good 50A electrical service, good water pressure and quality (260 ppm) and good sewer location. Cable TV available, but not utilized. Extremely well groomed and maintained park. Wide asphalt interior roads. Outstanding full service RV park. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is our 4th time here. Most sites do not have shade, but all are nice pads and grass. Mostly big rigs. Very roomy roads and sites. WiFi is poor in some places but the DSL offered at your site is excellent. Ours was seven dollars for a week stay. You can connect a router to it which WalMart sells for $29.95 and have excellent WiFi on all your devices. Cable is ok. Verizon service is poor. Otherwise, this park is great. It is very clean and quiet. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Buckhorn Lake Resort is a well kept, clean, and family owned RV park. There are a number of site types. Some of the sites offer a water view which can be anything along the creek that winds through the park. There is a large meeting area which is also used for some meals prepared by the park staff and reasonably priced. The entertainment (usually every 1 or 2 weeks) is pretty expensive. Dinner and the entertainment run around $120 per couple. Breakfast and dinners without entertainment are very reasonably priced. The few meals we've had were absolutely excellent. The park offers occasional bus tours to various destinations around the Hill Country. There are not as many activities as some winter RV parks, but there are many things in the area to do with friends or on your own. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Terrific park for the Hill Country. Great facilities for rallies, very friendly staff. Sites were level, concrete pads with blacktop roadways make this park a real diamond. Dog park is spectacular. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Park itself is in excellent shape. Good roads and no tight turns. You will hear some highway noise, but not unbearable. My Verizon signal was very weak at my site. The free Wi-Fi signal was very good though. Clean laundry room ($1.50 for washer & $1.75 for dryer). Staff very friendly and helpful. My rate was based on weekly rate and I was in executive section (adult section). We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed a week and enjoyed our time here. The WiFi didn't reach our unit but when in the social room it worked fine. The pool was not heated when we were there but the hot tub worked well. They have a wonderful activity director and a bus to take you around but don't expect activities such as wood shop. The garbage is left out front in the morning to be collected while we would prefer dumpsters available to dump our own. This is a fancy park and people with some wonderful and expensive RV's stay here. The facilities are modern and well kept. It is close to the freeway and some noise is present but not bothersome to us. Access to the freeway is very convenient. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
Let's start with the negative. It's right near the highway, so highway noise can be an issue. If it wasn't for the highway noise this resort would get an easy 9 and maybe a 10. The front office staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The sites are so big and beautiful. Lots of amenities here. It's a pretty fancy place with many million dollar RV's showing up nightly. They even have an adults only section of the park if you don't like to be around young kids or families and want some quiet. Internet was fair - but the rest made up for it. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here over the Thanksgiving weekend. They host a lovely potluck thanksgiving dinner. We have been traveling for the last year and I would say this is one of the top few parks we've visited. I would especially recommend the sites in the adult only part of the park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Although the park advertises free WiFi availability, the executive section has zero connectivity. The owner has a few sites in that section with DSL capability for an additional fee of $20/month. We have a Verizon hotspot that would not connect either. The front desk informed us that the park was a Verizon dead zone because Verizon will not pay the fees to connect a cell tower in the area. If voice or Internet on Verizon is important to you, forget this park!! Their new feature is a dog park which is located at the back end of the property and is a mud pit for the most part, with lots of stickers. The park is located a few yards away from Interstate 10 so road noise is constant. We failed to appreciate the positive features of the park others have stated. We camped here in a Motorhome.
On of our favorite places to stay, period. This was our third visit, we stayed four days. Setting is beautiful. Although in sight of I-10,very little noise. Staff are great,as before. Not the high season here,so we had few fellow campers. Even if full, the layout is such that one would not feel crowded. Just a lovely spot to rest in and enjoy. Kerrville is a real pleasure to visit. The huge general store is not to be missed. We can't wait to come back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We pulled in here for an overnight and just fell in love with the beauty and cleanliness of this park. It was quiet, spacious and ever so clean. We wished we could have stayed longer but this will definitely be the place we stay if we are through this area again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
One of our favorite parks. A top notch operation. We were here for a rally and the staff and facilities are outstanding. Interior roads are paved and in excellent condition. Sites are level. Not much shade during a Texas summer though. The staff keeps the grounds in great shape. Laundry facility is nice and clean, as is the pool. Decent Wi-Fi. We will return in the fall. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This resort has wonderful cabins, two great pools, an adults-only RV area and a very pretty location, so why only a “7” rating? The regular sites are packed in, parking-lot style. If you stay here, choose an executive site if you want some space. The location is fantastic for it’s easy-on/easy-off I-10 convenience, but be prepared to hear the hum of traffic whizzing by… all night long. No walking trails, no seclusion… pretty much party central. Seems like a wonderful spot for a Rally or a family reunion. The property is beautifully maintained, we’ll certainly stay here again when traveling the interstate. Recommended, but do realize what you’ll be getting. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a beautiful, professionally managed park. It is big rig friendly and very well kept. The pools and restrooms are spotless. Price reflects weekly rate in "Executive" area including metered electric. It is not a 10 for two reasons: Birds and bird droppings everywhere around our site. Wi-Fi is slow at peak times, and for this price should be fast all the time. That said, we will definitely stay here again when in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
As others have said, It's a great park. Has it all. Two pools, one for only adults in an area of sites only for adults. Fitness equipment could have been better. Beautiful park setting. Stream with ponds full of fish and turtles. They mowed our site grass twice in the week we were there! Very busy, near capacity every night. Many staying for a month or more (Snow Birds, here they are called Winter Texans) but no permanents allowed. Definitely worth a stop. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a wonderful park and we will definitely stay here again. This park is very clean and they offer activities for their guests. They have two pools, fishing ponds and tennis courts. We had lots of fun while we were here. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice park, very clean and friendly staff. Showers and bathrooms clean and tidy. Laundry clean and reasonable. A must try stop, easy on and off from I-10 exit 501. (I believe.) We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is one of our favorite parks in the United States. Staff is always friendly and helpful, sites are paved and large, and everything - the grounds, restrooms, pools, buildings: are always sparkling clean. The park offers many activities (but not so many as to be overwhelming), including bus trips to attractions out of the Kerrville area. The only slight negative for the park is the interstate noise. The park would be perfect if an enclosed doggie park were to be built. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rate includes special Sweetheart dinner. Lovely park, paved roads and sites. Large grassy area for dog walking. Great gathering hall for events, which seem to be offered regularly. Large outdoor entertainment area with fire pit, large BBQ and bar area. Two laundries, two swimming pools. Extremely clean and well cared for. Close to I-10 so some freeway noise but nothing to complain about. About fifteen minutes from Kerrville proper. Sites are large with some grass and some paved area as well as some rocked sections. Pull throughs and back ins. Just a lovely park. We would most certainly return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Rate based on a 3 month stay. Love this park for all the reasons mentioned. Hate the interstate noise when the wind blows out of the south. I know that can't be helped but please, please fix the Wi-Fi. This was our fourth stay here and I think the Wi-Fi gets worse every time. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We've been here many times in the past on our way to one place or another. This park is one of the few that re-invest in their future which is refreshing compared to many parks across the U.S. The park is well kept and offer many things to do. The one thing that gets under my skin is Wi-Fi. Last year it was seemingly great, this year it is a POS. Dropped all the time, good connection then the next minute: gone?? Not sure who's running the show but talking to some people that are here for a few months, they all seem to say the same thing. It is bearable but for the price, it should scream along the airways. So: Wi-Fi a rating of 5-6. The park: a 9-10. The pools and grounds are very well kept and they are offering live, big name entertainment every month with a dinner show menu. Hope they keep up the good work and fix the Wi-Fi. Will return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice people and a very nice campground. Everything was good: utilities worked well; sites were large, long and paved; lots of space to back-in. Two laundry rooms; two pools. Pool was cold but the hot tub was nice and hot. Well kept property with lots of extras: social room; exercise room; tennis courts. They have obviously put a lot of effort into making this a nice resort, and we would definitely stop here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
It is a pleasure to come back to Buckhorn Lake RV Resort. They have a wonderful staff and there are always improvements to the park. You pay premium dollar here but you get what you pay for. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice park with excellent amenities. Premium sites are long and spacious and work well for a big rig towing a vehicle. Grounds are nicely landscaped and the Christmas lights were something to see. We used this park for an overnight stop off I-10. Access to the freeway is excellent. In fact, the park is so close to the freeway that road noise is very noticeable and also we could not receive Wi-Fi signal in our coach. Took off 1 point each for these items. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Another great Thanksgiving at Buckhorn. This is our third year, and we will be back next year. They always go out of the way to show everyone a great time. The turkey supper was great. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Buckhorn is a great RV Resort. Everything is carefully thought-out and well designed and built. First Class all the way. Lots of room for Big Rigs and easy ins and outs. The roads are wide and paved and the pads are cement with large patios and much space between rigs. There are fountains and streams all around the property and the owners and staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and assist any way they can. Location is about 5 miles outside Kerrville and right off I-10. There is some freeways noise as the trucks pass, but it's offset by the ambience of the resort. Restrooms, showers and all facilities are spotless and new feeling. This is our favorite places to stay when in the Texas Hill Country. Spent 10 days here this trip and will be back again. We drive a 45' quad-slide motorhome and we had tons of room for the rig and our Jeep. Fredericksburg and Luckenbach were fun side trips. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Our 2nd stay at this park. We were through here in March but it was so windy we left after one night. This time we stayed for two nights and ended up extending for two additional nights and then three more nights on the way home. What a great park! We used it as a base camp to visit San Antonio and Frederickburg. We checked other parks in Kerrville and San Antonio but were not tempted to move. Plenty of room and very well maintained. Look forward to visiting again! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This resort is not as good as it used to be. The internet was never working. The water lines were filled with air. The sewer was filled with sewer flies. The pads and supplied furniture were dirty with bird poo. There was very bad cell phone service using T-Mobile,Verizon and AT&T. It seems like they are only concerned with owners and rules enforcement. Very noisy from I-10. Services were far less than when we previously visited this park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is about 500 yards from exit 501 off I-10. Road noise continuous. Some partial shaded sites but most are open. Daily cleaning of showers not evident. A dead roach was in the same bathhouse location for a period of 3 days. Way overpriced for the amenities. Will pass on this park next time. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A beautiful campground right off I-10 and about 5 miles from town. Every amenity one might want. We were the only ones using the immaculate pool and it was over 100 degrees. It's dry here now but the park is still in great condition. Not a lot of shady spots but there are some and we were lucky enough to get one under a big oak. We were here about 4 nights and 5 days. Trash is picked up curbside and spots are paved and there's gravel to park a vehicle on. Also, there's grassy areas. We will be staying here again as we have family in the area. Understand there's lots of snowbirds in the winter so plan ahead if you're traveling during that time. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
My husband and I have stayed at many campgrounds that call themselves resorts, but I have to say that the Buckhorn is truly a resort and it is the best RV resort we have stayed at. Immaculate grounds, sparkling adult & family pools & tennis courts. The laundry facility was clean & nice. The staff was very friendly & helpful and the night security was a great. Sites are big & spacious. Our rate was with 10% discount. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Planned on overnight, stayed five days. Even in the hot weather it was a great place. Can't say enough. Facilities, setting were all tens. We'll be back on our next trip. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We always enjoy our stays here. Since it was the off season, there were no dinners, but the Saturday breakfast was still offered. They are also doing improvements during this slow season, so some sites will have even nicer views when they are done (unfortunately, they executed the serpent). We were in the row right behind the club house, which seems to be a bad spot for Wi-Fi (the point the furthest from all the sources); and the Wi-Fi is important if your air card is from Verizon. As usual the staff were excellent and helpful. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rate was with a 20% discount coupon with a reservation on line with 4 adults and kids free over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. The concrete pads and asphalt streets were level. No Interstate 10 noise as some claim. Some shade and great stream for fishing. My 6 year old daughter caught several fish. Grade A service, location, facilities. We will be back for July 4th holiday weekend. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Loved this RV resort. Convenient to a lot of tourist activities and the Texas Hill Country. The only negative was the interstate noise. We could hear it at night inside our RV, but we were on the end closest to I-10. Would not let that deter us from coming again. Loved the Museum of Western Art in Fredricksburg, The Wildseed Farm, Luckenbach and the Texas Wine Trail. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Outstanding RV park. Yes, it is close to I-10 but we really didn't hear the noise. It certainly didn't interfere with sleep, and I am a light sleeper. Internet was strong and fast. Cable was good except it went out while we were there, through no fault of the campground. Outstanding exercise facility with lovely view while exercising--two treadmills, two bicycles, elliptical, and 2 universal gyms. Sites were very long, level, and paved. Beautifully landscaped with many activities. Only thing we would add would be trees. Most campsites had at least one planted, but they were mostly small and not positioned to give any shade to the RV, making it hot during the day. We definitely plan to stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is the nicest RV park in my eight years on the road. An earlier reviewer complained about the Interstate noise. He must have the ears of a bat, it's hardly noticeable during the day and not at all inside the motorhome. The folks I dealt with at the desk were friendly and helpful. For me the most interesting attraction in the area is the Nimitz National Museum of the Pacific War. I wasn't exception much, but was I surprised. Two days and I was only halfway through. I read everything. It's in Fredricksburg, a 30 minute drive. If your diet is not prone to burgers and fries, I hearty suggest the Peach Tree restaurant. It is a nice quiet setting, has a excellent menu, the food is fresh and thoughtfully prepared, the best quiche ever and the serving is the largest ever. It's on South Adams two blocks off of Main Street on the right side. I ate there both days I toured the museum. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Sorry, but I don't care how large, level, lavish and luxurious a place is, how lustrous are the lavatories, how lovely the lake. If the Interstate thrums and thunders like I was living in a lowly trailer park, it does not rate a 10. Please, if you are going to all the expense and trouble to build a Xanadu for transients with half-million dollar buses, get thee out of earshot of that monstrosity we all can't live without: Ike's great Interstate and Defense Highway System. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a 1st class RV park. We enjoyed our time here very much and made our reservations for next year. This park stays very full and was not available for us to stay longer. We were here 13 days and they did have a weekly rate. The facilities are first rate and their pool is beautiful and clean. The bathrooms were very clean as was the entire park. There are many activities going on all the time and they have a beautiful large bus that they take on trips for the guests. They have a " Meat and Greet" every week where the guests can bring their meat to grill and a dish to share. Everyone cooks their own meat on a large outdoor grill. It is a great park for bike riding. The entire park has concrete pads with a concrete patios and grass. The sites are very large and roomy. The cable TV worked great and the WiFi is very strong. We had no problems with it and best part: it was free. This park is about 6 miles out of Kerrville, but it's a very nice drive into town. The only thing we would give a mark against would be the people in the office. They were not friendly at all. They didn't seem to care if we were here or not, and had a general cold attitude. Other than that, we highly recommend this beautiful park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice park. Wide paved access roads, concrete pads and patios with new tables. This is the best private park we have stayed at (and we have stayed at close to 200 parks). The grass is real green grass not watered weeds and is kept mowed and edged as if it were a golf course. There is no fenced dog run but we found the park to be pet friendly. We stayed there four nights and would definitely stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This rate reflects the basic weekly rate. You pay electric on top of this which is metered. This park has much to offer and is in an area rich with history and site seeing for the San Antonio and Fredricksburg area. There are so many activities offered that one could have an entire vacation while staying in this park. Offered are many group meals, crafts, tours, etc. that one is welcome to sign up for if willing to pay the requested fees (which seem mostly reasonable). This park is primarily big rig and thus we would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Great park, very clean. We opted for the Soup and Potato dinner in the barn. Very good food and really fun meeting many of the other campers. The sites are paved and level. Maybe the only "complaint" (not enough to impact the review) was there was no designated dog run. There are bags and trash containers in a few places. Some campers put out "no dogs" signs. There were plenty of other places to go, so it wasn't inconvenient. Just never experienced that in a campground before. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a great park. This was our second Thanksgiving to stay here. Best Thanksgiving meal I have had. It is provided by resort for all to enjoy. All it costs is a side dish. Will stay here every time I get to South Texas. Only down side is slow Wi-Fi. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is an absolutely beautiful park. Paved roads and sites. Brick detail work. Clean and neat as a pin. Office personnel very helpful. Accepts mail. Community buildings are huge and clean. We were here with a rally of 80 Prevost's and it was wonderful. The only thing that prevents a rating of 10 was the Verizon cell phone reception and internet. Park offers Wi-Fi but the park was full and the service was slow. NO CELL PHONE SERVICE. The park is beneath the cell tower and the beam just went over our heads. I could see the tower from my motorhome. Frustrating. Perfect access from the highway. Though close to the highway, no highway noise. Wide driveway for turning clearance and beautiful decor. Convenient to downtown Kerrville and Fredricksburg. Heated pool! Too bad about the Verizon service. Would have to stay here again if the rally goes back. Otherwise, need my cell phone and internet. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Wow! Lovely, long, concrete pads and patio. Nice lighted utility pole and hose caddy, conveniently located. Beautiful, well-cared-for grounds. Lots of activities offered. Lots to do in the area. Staff very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Owners on-site, visible, and involved in day-to-day operations. First class all the way. Would definitely stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Definitely a 10. i just had to stay here to see it myself. Nice staff, Nice site, Nice everything. This park is east of Kerrville about 8 miles, exit 501. Easy off, Easy on. Concrete pads and asphalt streets. Lots of humidity but its not there fault. Very clean amenities Verizon wireless was a little weak here as its in the Hill country. We would stay here again but will try Guadalupe RV Resort next time. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is an outstanding RV resort and the grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. The sites are wide, long and level with good size patios. This park has all of the amenities you could want, including on-site coach washing and repair. Staff is very friendly and helpful with lots of recommendations about the area and restaurants. The Hill Country is a great place to visit and this resort makes it even better. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We've stayed in "luxury" resorts before, Pelican Lake in Naples, Fl, numerous Outdoor Resorts, Blue Water Key in Key West, this place sets the standard for RV parks. Multiple heated pools, paved level sites, paved roads, plenty of room between the sites, excellent Wi-Fi, awesome staff, Owners area, renters area, clean laundry, clean restrooms, beautiful grounds. This is an up to date facility that is well worth the stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Beautiful RV Resort, The staff was out going, helpful, informative and very attentive. Store and gift shop well stocked and reasonably priced. The maintenance of the park is excellent. We stayed in the adult only section, the site was a pull in forward site that gave us a view out the front window of the water filled creek and tree line on the other side. Site was nice and wide, provided partial shade. Well manicured land-scraping. Pool, hot tub, restrooms and showers were spotless. While the name may imply that the park sits on a Lake, don't expect there to be a large lake. Rather a few smaller landscaped/manicured ponds and streams which offer catch and release (no license or permit required). At night the sky was dark black which gave the most fantastic view of the stars glowing above. Park also offers free Wi-Fi and cable at no charge. We stayed 4 nights and used the park as a base for exploring the area. We can't wait to return. The resort also offers on site RV Wash and Wax service as well as LP fill service. We did experience a problem with our RV and needed the help of a RV service Tech...The staff contacted a mobile service provider who was on site within an hour, fixed the problem and was very, very reasonable with his rates. We Recommend the Buckhorn Lake RV Resort highly, We camped here in a Motorhome.
Wonderful park with level pads. Each site had its own manicured patch of grass (complete with sprinkler system), a tree and picnic table. We didn't get in until 9:30 at night and were pleasantly surprised by a lighted utility post. There is a breakfast every Saturday (we didn't go but in-laws said it was very nice). There were pools, hot tubs (including adults only), and a playground. The stream was very nice, stocked with fish (catch & release). Unfortunately, it was hard to get to without having to walk onto someone's site. Staff/park hosts were friendly. Full-time camper's sites were well maintained. Will definitely return! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Level concrete sites, grassy areas, river front sites, some shade, wide roads all contribute to a great park. The staff is friendly and the grounds are very well maintained. Many things to do and see in the area. Although close to Interstate 10, traffic noise was not a problem. We will definitely stay here again when in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a great site. We would have given it a 10 but for the small amount of noise from Interstate I-10. Park is exceptionally clean and well cared for. We especially liked the fact that they had two hot tub and pool areas, and one was for adults only. Would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is one of our favorite parks. We stayed over Memorial Day Holiday for 3 nights in the "adults only" section. Even though it's very close to the highway, we didn't hear much if any road noise. The price is a little higher than most, but for level concrete sites, not too close to each other, wide "streets", great pools, and buddy sites are worth it. We've already made reservations for Labor Day. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Buckhorn is not just a campground but a true resort. Two swimming pools, tennis courts, and a workout room definitely add to the amenities offered. Most sites are large, level pull-through, cement pads with patios. This is an upscale park at a reasonable price. The hosts are very knowledgable about the area and very accommodating. Lot's of clean bathrooms and laundry facilities. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very unhappy with the way park is managed. People walk their dogs everywhere, including your site and vacant sites. They parked me in the back between a park employee, whose site looks as if he has lived there forever; and a lady with a 5th wheel with a small motor home in front, which she was remodeling! We had reservations for over 6 weeks prior. Very disappointing stay. This park did NOT meet our expectations and we will not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Simply put, this is the best RV Resort we've ever stayed at. Excellent facility that even includes a bus to take groups on outings. We stayed one week in April '10. We plan to stay at least two weeks next spring. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Buckhorn Lake RV Resort is exceptional. We stopped here for a week to take in the Texas Spring Wild Flowers. (Rated the best year in the last 20) We experienced a few days of very heavy rains, but the park drained well and stayed neat and well manicured. They take great pride in their property and it shows. 50% or more long pull-throughs; back-ins are deep and wide and easy to get into and out of. Great support crew. Will not hesitate to stay here again in the future. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a great park. Roads in park are asphalt / cement and in good shape. Our site was a long, wide, level, cement pad, with a table, 50 amps and water. Resort is very clean. The Wi-Fi worked well and was fast on our site. Park was close to full at time of our visit. You could hear a little noise from I-10 but it was not a problem. Kerrville has a number of the big box stores for all your needs plus number of places to eat. Verizon cell and air card worked well here. We enjoy this resort and will return again as we pass this way. We camped here in a Motorhome.
As usual, BLR was excellent. We love that we pull in and face the stream, so it is right outside our front window. The rate is based on 10 days plus electric. The activities (bus trip, meals, movie, etc.) were a lot of fun and the staff was friendly and helpful. The park would be perfect if there was good internet (Verizon is spotty, but we did get a signal, and the park internet is a bit slow and sometimes unable to connect). We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a fairly large park with well over 100 spaces. It was surprisingly full given the time of year that we visited. The roads in the park are paved and all the pads are also paved, with an adjacent gravel space to park your tow vehicle. Everything is very well maintained, although we did not visit any of the facilities. The park is a few miles northwest of Kerrville and about 35 miles from Fredericksburg. Our space overlooked a small creek, but we did not see any lake. There are quite a few mature trees in the park and lots of other landscaping. WiFi and cable TV were both excellent. Overall, it was a very nice place to stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Don't be fooled about me giving them an 8. This place is excellent. I would have given a 10 but I reserve that for places that have beautiful scenery as well. This place was great and I highly recommend it. (Tried to stay at By the River RV Park, had a good laugh and ended up here). All the sites were concrete and very well maintained. I think we have a very nice 39' fifth wheel, but we looked like little kids compared to all the rigs here. WOW, there are nice people here and nice rigs to look at. Their website says it all and they deliver. This place exceeded my expectations and I would stay here again in a heart beat. The only complaint to consider is that they are off the IH-10 and you could hear road noise, but it was not bad at all and I am just being picky for you. Have fun here! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
It's all been said. This is a lovely park. We spent a week and made a reservation to come back for a month. We especially enjoyed the bus tour of Wildflower country and Cooper's BBQ in Llano. We met lots of great people here. We are looking forward to returning. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Top-notch resort. Very clean, quiet, and well laid out. Management and staff are all helpful and friendly. Surrounding area lacked things to do, but all-in-all worth the stop. Lots of activities in the park, especially the three-times weekly meals and pot-lucks. They have a licensed restaurant that gets good use, and the menu varies and is reasonable. Would have enjoyed it more if the weather had co-operated. Would definitely return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice park, well maintained. The meals prepared by the staff are excellent. Sites are wide and deep. No back to back hookups. Lots of things to see and do in the Texas "Hill Country". We camped here in a Motorhome.
Wow is all we can say. We planned to stay a month and stayed almost two months. One of the best resorts we have been in. We agree with previous comments and want to add that the weekly ‘tech talks’ during the winter months were very helpful. With regard to reservations, schedule adjustments, and most things in general, we were treated like responsible adults. This was very refreshing. Our only suggestion would be that they start having recycling available. The rate reflects a monthly rate plus electricity. We camped here in a Motorhome.
What else can be said? The previous reviews have said it all. This is a fabulous resort. We were only there on a cold, rainy overnight so we did not get to see or use all the amenities, but we walked around a bit, and everything looked really nice. We did use the exercise room which was top notch. There is a day spa, tennis courts, catch and release fishing, putting green, adults only area with a pool, patio café, rally barn, and rental cottages. Other on-site services (RV washing/waxing, repair, propane delivery, etc.) are also available. The staff was great. The roads are all paved, and the landscaping is beautiful and well kept. The sites were paved with ample space and a lighted utility pedestal. The patio had a table, but no grill. There were lots of cable channels, and the Wi-Fi was strong. Both were included with the cost of the site. Particularly beautiful was the area with privately owned lots, but understandably it was off limits to the general public. We would love to come back here and highly recommend it. We camped here in a Motorhome.
After RVing through 40 states, this is our best experience of anywhere; and we have had some very nice ones over the past five years. This park has very nice facilities, with ownership understanding what it takes to be "world-class". We planned to stay two weeks, and ended-up staying 2 months. We will certainly come back to the Buckhorn on our next trip through Texas, because we have already made our reservations for next December. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Wow! Buckhorn Lake Resort is the absolute definition of what an RV resort should be. Super friendly and helpful staff, wide/level spaces, beautiful grounds, awesome free Wi-Fi, great cable and much more. We would have stayed longer if we weren't on a deadline. We will definitely stay here again and cannot recommend this park highly enough. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Lovely park with many amenities and easy to find for this one nighter. Big wide spaces, trees, friendly folks and easy access off Interstate 10. I stayed only one night in a trailer with two dogs. Would definitely return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This park was excellent. It had the cleanest restrooms that I've seen so far (even cleaner than the Outdoor Resort we stayed at) and the people were terrific (well, a few members of "The Club" could not lower themselves to talk to us, but most were fine). The activities were excellent--including trips on the park's bus. There were many, many opportunities to get together (meals, movies, barbecues, cookouts, etc.). The park was perfectly groomed and maintained--and the holiday decorations were incredible. The only complaint we had was the internet the last week we were there. They improved the system from what was there earlier in the year and the first 2 weeks there we had zero problems--then it went completely out one day and after that there were intermittent issues. They were working with the provider (I overheard a very heated conversation as the owner was talking to the provider) about getting it fixed. We will definitely be back (actually already have reservations)--it is an excellent place to stay while exploring the Hill Country of Texas (and San Antonio is close by)--Kerrville and Fredericksburg also have plenty to keep you busy. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a wonderful place with some of the most helpful people I have found. Great sites with lots of room. Would have gave it a 10, but the Wi-Fi was real slow or not working. My wife depends on internet for her work while we travel and could not get speed fast enough to do her job. She had to use my ATT air card that did work well here. We will stay here again for sure. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Beautiful Resort. The decor was fabulous. Christmas lights glowed perfectly. Office was closed. Other campers guided us to a site that was very spacious, level and easy to get into. Just a great place. We will definitely stay here if we are in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
What can you say about an RV park that has EVERYTHING? We stayed there 2 nights, once going to Houston and coming back home. All I can say about the RESORT is that I would like to live there. Everything is manicured and spotless. Only negative thing we can think of, is that the Wi-Fi did not work the second time we stayed, and it was past office hours so there was no way to check. My wife wants to come back and spend more time there, which we will do in the near future. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This Resort earns the title of Resort unlike many others. Beautiful large concrete pads with well groomed grass for each spot. We were here for a rally and the meeting rooms were top notch as were the catered meals by their staff. Office personal were always helpful and pleasant. Would have give them a 10 except Wi-Fi was not as strong as it could be and Verizon signal is sporadic. I would rate it 9 3/4. Will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I have never rated a park a"10" until I stayed at Buckhorn Lake. We stayed here for a week while visiting the Texas Hill Country. Our site faced a creek (pull in-back out). We had a large concrete pad for the RV and toad and a large concrete patio with a table and chairs. The grass was manicured as if it were a golf green. The dog walking areas were large and I did not see where anyone left "dog business". The Wi-Fi was fast, cable channels and movie availability were wonderful. Although we did not use the fitness area it was available to us. We will stay here again if in the Kerrville area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Absolutely wonderful for our Rally! The entire staff was excellent! Park was immaculate, grass cut three times in one week - like a golf course. Meetings rooms were impeccable. Food was delicious. This is what all parks should be! We camped here in a Motorhome.
We did not get the good rate the reviewer below got but what we paid was well worth the money. We were here for a rally. The staff here did a wonderful job of serving us and making us feel at home. We don't normally pay this much for an RV site but this was worth it. Beware the GPS will not take you here. When you come off the Interstate it wants you to turn south...do not...go north on Goat Creek Road...You can see the Park from the exit. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park truly deserves the name Resort. In 6 years of camping we would say it ranks in the top 5 of a lot of very nice parks we've stayed in. We stayed a week and will go out of our way to stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This continues to be an outstanding park. The office was accommodating of our request to be by the pool, as we have 3 kids. The drawback was that we were next to their "overnight" site, so we had new neighbors every day, with noisy setup and take down. That's not the park's problem though. This place is perfectly manicured, and they had all types of activities for the kids over the 4th of July weekend. They had a couple of hours of potato sack races, bobbing for apples, water balloon tosses, and pop sicles. This all followed a parade of bikes, golf carts and other buggies throughout the entire park. Capping it off was a great fireworks display that night. The playground area is nicely shaded too. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Excellent campground with friendly staff. Check-in is hassle free and quick. Excellent choice to stop at if you are traveling between El Paso and San Antonio. RV park is about 40 miles from San Antonio so it is even a good choice if your destination is San Antonio. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed 2+ months. Rate is based on monthly. Pool areas and bathrooms were kept immaculate. Air conditioned fitness room was a major plus. Everything worked. Staff was responsive and friendly. We had to leave early, and were refunded for our unused days, normally an unheard of act in the resort business!! Best RV resort we've been to in our three years of full-timing. Only downside was the typical pet owners using the empty sites as their personal dumping ground and not cleaning up afterward. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We have previously enjoyed our stays here, but the attitude at Buckhorn has gotten arrogant and unfriendly with most of the employees. There policy and rules change with who you speak with and there are now excuses in place of the friendly help we use to receive. The park is still very nice but after being told that I need to sweep my own site clean after their mowing! They mow twice a week and no longer clean up the clippings. We will never stay here for an extended stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is definitely a "Class A" resort. This is well stocked country store that includes a nice selection of wines. The staff are very professional and helpful. I am looking forward to staying here again. It was so nice we stayed for four nights and used the entire facility. Very clean restrooms and laundry facility. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The only real complaint we had was that the aircard worked sporadically. This is the first RV campground that called itself a "resort" that is worthy of such an honor. The grocery store was fully stocked, even the wines they sold were quality. They are a full service resort. They will deliver practically anything to your site except for diesel or food. Even disposing of the garbage is done curb side at your site. It doesn't get any better than that. Even the laundry room was a delight. There are four washer/dryers in a very comfortable room with a table, chair and lots of magazines to pass time. We will DEFINITELY stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was the nicest park that we stayed in during our southwest U.S. trip. We were only going to stay a night, and ended up staying for an entire week. Nice level concrete pads with grassy areas in between. Very clean and well manicured. Easy interstate access with no noticeable traffic noise. In addition to the regular cable channels, they have their own channel on which they play nightly movies. If we are in the area we will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is one of the best parks we have ever stayed at. The people were nice and helpful. The sites are all large and very easy to pull into. There are trees but not in the way of any motorhomes. The wifi actually worked well. The had a meat (spelling is correct) and greet that was hosted by very friendly work campers that we attended. The area it's in is very pretty and we enjoyed our stay. We will definitely stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We loved this park. Easy access off of I-10, but don't believe your GPS if it tells you to turn south at the exit. The park is just north of the highway. Paved roads with concrete parking pads for the RV, concrete patio, additional gravel area to park the tow car. Some grass at site. Sites are large and angled for ease of parking. We had no problems maneuvering our 41' motorhome around the park. Very friendly staff and guests. Nice adults only section that included a pool and workout room. Looking forward to the chance to stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a great park. The sites are concrete with ample space between vehicles. The layout of the park is nice. The staff and management are very friendly. I used the laundry facilities, and the building, washers, and dryers were spotless. This is by far the nicest park we have visited. We camped here in a Motorhome.
One of the nicest resorts we've stayed in during our 30+ years of RVing. Perfectly level concrete slab sites with patio. Our 40 footer with the towed had plenty of room. Wi-Fi that really works, exceptional cable TV all kind of services available at your site. All topped of with a very professional staff. Expensive, but worth it. Look forward to a future visit. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The Cadillac of RV Parks. Easy off-an-on of Interstate 10; great swimming pools (2); nice, nice folks to deal with. Lots of pull-throughs; always a well-attended park. Highly recommend. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here one month - electric is additional. This is a very nice park. There is an executive area which is for adults only, and a club area for owners. The sites are large and paved. There is a stream running through and some trees. They have lots of activities which they need because there is very little happening in and around Kerrville. San Antonio is about an hour away. Do visit the YO Ranch which is about 45 minutes northwest. The office staff is neither friendly nor helpful. Note: their wifi rarely works and this is a Verizon free zone. We had to purchase an AT&T card locally so we could get on the internet. We camped here in a Motorhome.
It is great for one night or longer. A clean and attractive easy access RV resort, with many amenities like on site washes, computer repair, RV repair, on site propane delivery, and etc. The staff was very congenial. It is big rig friendly with easy access to I-10. We will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Easy. Spacious. Service-friendly. The Park is a short drive from I-10 with a large entrance. The sites are easy to get to and are spacious. The managers are ready with answers to questions and suggestions about the services and sights in Hill Country. Services (propane delivery, repair, rig-weighing, lube, washing) are available along with camp dinners and celebrations. We were here for a month and will return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Like other reviewers, I only have good things to say. We wanted wood, they delivered. We wanted to wash our coach, they delivered a hose. Needless to say, the people at the gate were wonderful. While the lake was low on water, the view was not. The dogs had lots to sniff and a great place to do it in. Whatever you do, don't tell anyone about this place, I want to be able to get in again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This place has the WOW factor. The website does not do it justice, so the park was much prettier and upscale than I expected. The grass looks like a golf course and everything is immaculate in appearance. The staff was very friendly and helpful. At this time of year, there are not many activities going on, but they are gearing up for the Winter Texans. I would recommend this park to anyone looking for a short stay or a long stay. There is something for everyone. We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area. Rate shown is for a pull-through. Back in spaces are a little less. Rate includes free Wi-Fi and cable TV. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Spent 4th of July weekend at this park, and don't have one negative thing to say. The park was near capacity, but the amenities and facilities were great. Clean pool, hot tub, showers, restrooms, and manicured lawns. There was a 4th of July Parade, hamburger social, ice cream social, and an awesome fireworks display. Lots of families, kids, and respectable RV'ers. We'll definitely return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed for 4 nights and loved it.The park was recommended by a repeat camper of the park. She spoke highly of it and we wanted to try it out. So we did!!!I loved the whole place; and the scenery surrounding us was lovely. We had a tree limb accident in another town on our way to Buckhorn did not know it until our set up there. The team in the office helped me quickly to find their repairman Chris. Inexpensive and new at stuff, he put our mind right to ease and made the repairs. I knew we were at a good place. All the staff were friendly. I loved the garbage pickup every morning. Never saw dumpsters. The pool and showers and laundry were right next to our site. The little grocery store was stocked. We did not have to leave, but on a trip to town we discovered the Lake House Fish Restaurant. Best fish this TEXAS girl ever put in her mouth. This park was wonderful and loved the stream with loads of fish. It was very relaxing there and we never heard the Interstate. It is a must go to place. You'll love it. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is what a RV resort should be. I can not say enough about the facilities and staff. We stayed for more than 2 weeks and will return anytime we are within the area. We even were able to get massages on site in the spa. We stayed in the adult only executive area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Fantastic campground! This is the most beautiful park! It is meticulously groomed! It is a tad pricey but definitely worth it! Depending on the time of year, they cater meals & feature movies on their cable system every night. They have a guy that goes to the rigs & does a superior job of washing & waxing rigs - we were pleased by the job he did. Buckhorn also has a handyman that is available to work on the individual rigs & repairs whatever needs to be done (in our case, we needed to have our a/c worked on & he fixed it professionally. The roads are all paved, as are the sites. There are 2 or 3 pools & one of them is for adults only. We also stated in the adult section. The exercise room is clean & the equipment well maintained. Wi-Fi is fast & dependable. Interstate 10 is nearby & is a little noisy but other than that, this park is perfect & we gladly give it a 10! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Could be a 10. Host at office could be more friendly. This is a great place if you have a big rig. I've never seen so many Prevost in one place, at least 15 and they we not at a rally. Clean, paved streets, pads and patio. We'll be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground gets our highest rating. It is beautiful. Paved streets, grassy areas, paved camp site, excellent patio tables. We had a pull forward site with a nice view of the lake/river/stream. The staff was excellent and the facilities are upscale. There are many pull thru sites that are excellent for a motor home and tow vehicle. The grounds are pleasant to walk around and our pet "Sammy" loved it. No stickers here. If we return to the hill country of Texas this campground will be on our itinerary. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Beautiful park, easy access, extra long sites. We're 43' towing full size SUV and still had extra room on slab. Staff not outgoing. By contrast other campers were some of the friendliest we've had the privilege to meet. Lady in office would not honor big rigs 2nd nite free offer as I didn't present it at check-in. My mistake and I didn't argue, but the advertisement made no such stipulation. Oh well, live and learn. We will return as the place is very nice. I give it a 10 partly due to some of the so called "resorts" we've stayed at in the past that weren't. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Other than Outdoor Resorts, this is the only park that I have rated as a 10. The rate given is for month in the Executive section. No one under 16 is permitted in this area. However, this time of year it really doesn't matter since the kids are in school anyway. In this area the sites are very large with large patios and with a nice table and 4 chairs. The other sites in the park are very adequate size and have bench type tables. There are a very few sites with shade. The "Club" section has lots available on long term lease (30 years) with some beautiful casitas and homes. Free Wi-Fi, not outstanding signal, but adequate. Verizon cell phones--this is an extended area and the signal is weak, but can usually make a call. There is lots to do in the area, Fredericksburg, Luckenbach, vineyards, etc. At out site there is a huge grassy area which makes a beautiful and peaceful setting. I would recommend this resort for long or short term stays. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Not sure what the other reviewers were looking at. Yes, this CG looks nice on the outside, but don't judge a book by its cover. Bathrooms were dirty. My husband got violently ill at the barn from food poisoning. Could not go outside to enjoy weather as we nearly got run over by the person mowing. Wifi barely worked, we were better off driving 7 miles to the Starbucks to get online. Front office staff was horrible. Better parks in the area where you get more for the money. We will NOT stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is spotless! We stayed here for the New Year and were very impressed. The grass is like carpet, the sites and roads are concrete, and the bathrooms are immaculate. The Wi-Fi and cable worked flawlessly. The staff was very friendly. Overall the park is very quiet, but you can hear some truck noise from the interstate. We look forward to staying here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Perhaps the best park in the state. Very well designd and layed out. Sites are big rig friendly and level. Lots of amenities and many services available for those requesting them. Our rate was based on the weekly rate ($210) plus electric. Only park we have ever been in that told us to pay when we check out. Good cable and wifi. Laundry area was very clean. The hooks ups and pads are super. We had some problems with cell phone signal but it worked ok most of the time (we use verizon). We noticed just a little traffic noise, but in general it was very quite and we liked the easy access to I-10. We would stay in this park again when in the area and will stay longer the next time we are in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a great park! We had a spot that faced a stream and a treed area. There are lots of things to do here and the staff is friendly. You park on cement. The trees are small so there is no problem with satellite. Verizon cell phone service is poor however. my only complaint is that is gets cold at night in the winter. We were here for two months (hence the low figure for nightly rate) and loved it. The days are warm and breezy. We will definitely come back but maybe it will be in the shoulder season when the nights are warmer. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great park! Well spaced, and manicured. Friendly staff. Used the hot-tub on New Years Eve and it was great. Wifi worked well. Spent 3 nights and will definitely return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is our 3rd stay here, and we'll be back. All concrete sites with lots of room for the RV and tow or towed. Trash pickup each morning at curbside, phone at the site, free WiFi internet access. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground has a very easy access. Its the nicest Campground I have ever seen. I travel in a 45' Newell and it is definitely a Big Rig or little rig park. The check in staff member (man) was not very nice, but everyone else was. Maybe he was just having a bad day. He got aggrivated because we had a discount coupon from the Big Rig book, but didn't tell him first. He should have asked and had to recalculate the fee for the three day stay. I felt that they would give me the discount if I asked but if I didn't they would make more money. I can't blame them for wanting to make a profit but I felt that they were not being totally honest. That is my only complaint. Other than that one person the campground is a 10 plus. They even tell you that you can WASH you coach. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Wonderful campground! This is probably the nicest, cleanest campground we've ever stayed at or at least one of the nicest & cleanest! It definitely has the WOW factor! Check in is very efficient & friendly. There are 2 swimming pools - one for adults, the other for families. Pads are concrete & trash is picked up each morning. This campground is impeccable! It has many things to do & is in a beautiful location! We do plan to return! We camped here in a Motorhome.
The park staff were very personable and helpful. All facilities were maintained extremely well, except some of curves on interior roads need repaving. This is a great destination park near Hill Country and San Antonio. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great resort park. Can be a destination as there are plenty of activities available. We just stayed 1 night as a stopover, but it is what all other parks/resorts should strive for. All driveways and sites are concrete, also grass everywhere. Separate parking for adults only. This is the best there is! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is one of the best campgrounds that we have visited. the sites are large and have easy access. Cable is included. the bathrooms were spotless. The owners go out of their way to meet any reasonable request of a guest. I would recommend this campground for anyone who wants to explore the Texas Hill area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a top rated park and should be a 10 plus. Very large sites and roads. Everything is so clean. Pool for kids and one for adults only. Everything you can think of is here. No open fires on ground. Layout of park is great. WiFi is free and works very well. Kerrville is five miles away for all your needs, super Wal-Mart and good places to eat. Outstanding park to visit. Staff was great and very helpful to me. I could not hear any noise from I-10 from our site and we were on south side near road, I-10 is 1/2 mile away. I only wish more RV resorts were setup like this place. We will return anytime we travel this way on I-10 to spend more time here. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Stayed there with Rally group (Sweetheart Rally) over a very cold weekend in the hill country. This is a first rate park with great interior roads. Facilities are great and staff friendly. Will be back again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
All things considered, facilities, amenities, beautiful setting, easy access. You will not find a nicer park than this one anywhere. Close to everything one would need: shopping, restaurants, San Antonio, etc. The only possible negative for some might be road noise from I-10. A small price to pay for such natural beauty (our humble opinion). We camped here in a Motorhome.
One of a few parks we've stayed in that really can be called a resort park. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Wi-fi service is strong from every part of the park, and they have telephone hookups at each site. The park is just off of the interstate, but highway noise is not noticeable. A great place to stay for a night or a week. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is by far the nicest park we have stayed at, and would deserve a 10, but the last two visits have demonstrated to us that management thinks they are doing you a favor letting you stay in their park. I have reviewed this park each of the 3 times I've stayed, and the numbers are going down. It is beautiful, the grounds are well kept, the facilities are great (although we all miss the Irish Pub), but I really notice the "attitude". And, as my wife says, if I notice it, it must be really bad. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This RV Resort is just as good as everyone says. Staff was very helpful in finding site. Extremely well kept and clean. Pool and spa were outstanding. All roads and sites were paved. Free WiFi was a tad slow at times but very acceptable. Cable channels were clear. I would highly recommend this park for anyone in the Kerrville area. Several nice golf courses fairly close. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Great family owned park. We had a great breakfast, and a "three meat BBQ. Afterwards we had an ice cream social. This family runs a great park and really seems to enjoy catering to the campers. This is worth a visit if you are on I-10 near Kerrville. The place is immaculate. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We loved this resort. Last year when we first became full-timers, this was our first stop. We spent six-weeks here and did not want to leave. It is clean, friendly with large paved sites, large paved roads. It has two pool areas (one is only for those over 16 years of age – the other for families). It has all the amenities that you could want from a resort and it is extremely affordable. Plus, this area of Texas is so beautiful. Kerrville is a lovely little town with a great river running through. The resort is about 20 miles from historic Fredricksburg and an hour from San Antonio. There is caught and release fishing on site. The grounds are very well kept. Plus, for any of your RV maintenance needs, they have contracts with service providers who will come to you – not the other way around. We plan to return there this summer. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
All of the things said about this campground are true. Best we have ever stayed in. Free, fast WiFi, relatively short list of free cable channels, instant free phone, plus all the amenities one could ask for. This park will be the one for comparison to all others in future. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very poor communications from Staff. Very Rude attendant. We have camped here since 2001 and attitude and service has fallen off tremendously this year. Excellent Facilities, poor, poor Management and help, too many other sites in the Hill Country to put up with this attitude. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Outstanding, roomy big-rig friendly RV park conveniently located. Far superior to anything in San Antonio, and far less expensive. Great for a one nighter or for a longer stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Well this is tough camping, they have everything. Besides what is listed they have great dinners on Monday evening. The Park people are excellent and work hard. The guests are friendly, except Snow Birds, they might consider going back north. Texans are very sensitive and should be treated politely. PS I am still looking for the lake, a small stream but no lake? We camped here in a Motorhome.
What a pleasure (i.e. to get what you pay for). If you don't mind the extra couple of dollars, this is the place to head for. Nice, friendly, good location, great food, nice sites, and a place to return to. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very nice park and well taken care of. This is one of the nicest parks that we have stayed in. Everything was as representated by previous posters and we were not disappointed. We camped here in a Motorhome.
One of the few parks that really justify a 10 notwithstanding the three-foot snake that meandered by our RV shortly after we arrived (remember, this is rural Texas and the snakes were here first). Exceptional facilities that were obviously designed by an architect, not cobbled together by the usual do-it-yourself RV park owner. Wide sites, concrete pads and paved roads. A bit too close to the freeway (take a half point off the rating) but not too bad. Good WiFi. Suitable for a long stay. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We just got back from a great weekend there. It was our 2nd time out in our RV and this place was clean, friendly, and convenient to many things in the area. We have kids and they said it was a great vacation! They loved fishing in the lake, swimming in the clean pool, and meeting new friends! We will keep this on our go back to list! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
A++++ Highly recommended! One of the nicest (if not the nicest) parks we've stayed in! They have paved roads, paved sites with FULL hookups (even dual-water!) Instant-on phones, free WI-FI, the owners obviously spared no expense on this park! We could LIVE there! They have a stocked stream full of turtles, bass, and catfish. Lots of ducks roaming around. The staff was excellent to say the least! They have a small bar/restaurant that serves excellent Irish cuisine and cuisine native to the area like friend catfish, shrimp, etc. In short this park makes you forget you're in Texas! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nicely maintained park with large sites for the most part. Water sites were facing a very small stream. Nice staff and well stocked store. WIFI somewhat limited by location but no additional charge. Next to I-10. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We have stopped at this campground a couple of times in the past few years but only for overnight stays. It a really pretty, clean park. The spots are nice and big and we would love to have the opportunity to spend more time there in the future. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Buckhorn Lake RV Resort is at the top of my list of parks visited over the past eleven years of motor homing. Anyone traveling west of San Antonio on I-10 should consider stopping at this Park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Cleanest and best maintained park we have ever visited. We make a point of staying there at least once every year as we travel throughout Texas. Quiet park with level concrete pads, park store, immaculate restrooms and showers, pools, spas, breakfast and dinner. They have a reserved area for adults only that we frequent for a tad more quiet even though we have never witnessed any rowdy kids anywhere in the park. This park sets the standard for all others to follow. All staff have always been friendly and helpful. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I don't see how anyone could complain about this place ("executive area" or lack of an actual "Lake"???). One of the best parks we have ever stayed in - anywhere - period!!! We live close and camp here a couple of time each summer just for fun, to link up with friends traveling through the area, or to use the pool when it hot (and it's always hot down here). Very well done, no expense spared here. Paved roads, nice sites, 1st class hook up's, nice people, convenient to the highway. I think it's the best stop between San Antonio and El Paso. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I think this is the nicest campground that we have ever stayed at, facilities are top
notch and the customer service is excellent We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A purpose built clean campsite run by people that really know what they are doing. Nothing
is to much trouble for them. Very clean facilities, spacious level concrete sites, easy access and friendly staff. We highly recommend the park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a wonderful RV Resort. They have two pools and two hot tubs. They are headquarters for several large RV Rallies such as FMCA. During the winter, reservations are highly recommended. I would highly recommend this RV Park to anyone traveling across Texas. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Being fulltimers we can't say enough about this resort. Owners are there daily ready to meet your every need. Resort is super clean everywhere. Sites are large, paved and well spaced. They have great home cooked meals for $5-7, activities and 3 movies nightly on your tv. What more could you want?? Ah yes, pets!! This place is heaven for animals. And they provide pick up bags!! Lots of room to walk your pet and enjoy the surroundings. The staff is super friendly and willing to help with anything you throw at them. Really the greatest place for the buck!! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice pet friendly park with lots of exercise space. Wi-Fi available for additional charge, good connection. Rates do vary depending on who checks you in, contrary to another viewers comments. Brother stayed there part of the time we were there. He stayed in 'executive' area with a 'free' upgrade paying lower site rates - he owns a Prevost. Executive area suppose to be adults only, but children were allowed, again depending on who checks you in. We had nice back in site with open pasture at back for a good dog exercise area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here for a week and loved the park. They have limited cable TV channels but do
provide movies every night uninterrupted on 3 channels. The park is state of the art and has free wireless internet access over entire campground. We will
return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Read last review and sounds like disgruntled employee posted it. We have camped there
often this summer and talked to many of campers there and found we all paid the same. We have stayed in different type sites there and paid accordingly. Trees are limited but then this is a new campground and trees need time to grow and mature. True there is no lake but there is stocked fishing available. The owners were campers before owners and love to come around and visit with campers there. Last reviewer needs to go elsewhere if they think they were so
mistreated. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Fair asphalt interior roads, concrete pads/patios. No shade anywhere. Name misleading as there is no lake, just a stream w/ponds. Site pricing varies on location and who checks you in. Premium sites can be had at cheaper rates if you own a luxury coach and owners check you in. Meals served most Wednesday nights as well as Friday night and Saturday mornings. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very impressed with the entire staff. Friendly, clean park. Pet friendly with even doggie
disposal stations thruout the park with bags furnished. Felt like we were on a golfing green with the well maintained grass area. Shade is a premium. Restrooms were very clean and handicapped assesible with seats in each of the showers. Two pools, one for adults, one for family makes it nice for everyone. Excellent meals served on the weekends and special holidays. Cannot say enough about the friendliness of the office staff and workers. Will be back again for longer stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here for one night in 2002 and came back to spend extended amount of time this summer (2003). Found park to be nice, quiet, clean and overall a great park. There are two pools, two bathhouses, two hottubs. The restrooms are complete with 3 showers for each gender in each building and those all are handicap accessible with seats. There are signs that even the water for laundry and showering is soft water. Is this heaven or what??? We camped here in a Motorhome.
Name is misleading as there is no lake, just a stream with ponds. We camped here in a Motorhome.
All new park. Concrete interior roads and pads. Well kept. Nice meeting rooms. No shade. Excellent restrooms but only one shower in each. We camped here in a Motorhome.
What a delight! This is a new park, about 2 years old, but well-laid out, attractive, spacious, and staffed by folks whose attitude is: "what can we do for you". The park is close to I-10 with an easy exit and ample entrance/registration room. Staff serves about five tasty specialty meals a week for a nominal price,in a beautiful stone barn, also a great feature for rallies. We stayed 9 days and were not "bothered" by the large number of rally folks in for 5 days. The park is dog friendly, with believe it or not, conscientious dog owners! There are two pools, etc., a park area, swan families in the fishing lakes, a nice store, and at present, before expansion is completed from about 130 sites to 225, plenty of exercise room in a pasture for dogs. Kerrville is about 6 miles away and Fredericksburg, about 25--both are fun and interesting towns to visit. Late April weather was warm in the mornings, but faired off to lovely afternoons and evenings. It is by far the nicest camping experience we've had in 5 years of fulltiming. The owners are in the hospitality business and their attitude begets good campers' attitudes. Don't miss it! Bring your manners when you come, because this doesn't come around often! We camped here in a camper.
Great new RV park, nicely landscaped, concrete interior roads and sites. many long pull-thrus for big rigs. We camped here in a camper.
