We stayed for 4 nights in order to experience the outdoors in the surrounding areas. It's just 30 minutes or less away from most of the whitewater outfitters, and horse riding stables. We loved our campsite parallel right by the water. People would put their kayaks, canoes, and floats in directly in front of their campsites. The view from the New River and cliffs across the river was gorgeous! Trains would come thru parallel from the campground, across the river every couple of hours all day and night, but my husband and I slept in our motorhome and didn't hear them and the kids slept in their tents and weren't disturbed by them in the least. Hubby and kids used the bath house regularly and said they were clean. The kids enjoyed throwing a fishing line out and jumping in for swim. The campground sold fishing bait and we also bought firewood from the campground for the fire ring which have a built in grate for grilling. Each campsite also has a picnic table. We had shade so was unable to use our antenna, and the wi-fi was sporadic at our site, but we didn't miss it because we had so much to do, and just loved sitting out and soaking up the views. We didn't want to leave and would definitely come back again! We camped here in a Motorhome.

This campground got some bad reviews from when previous owners had it. New owner does everything to make one feel welcome. We had a parallel river front site and it was great. The site could use more stone. I require Internet for work and the cable based Wi-Fi was excellent. We will be back next year again for a month because it is all about location, location, location. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Camped here with friends while rafting the Gauley River. This campground is located between highway 60 and the New River just above the confluence with the Gauley. There is some road noise due to the proximity of the highway, but you get to camp right on the river! Campsites are level, some are gravel, most are grass. If it's been rainy - be prepared for some mud. This trip was off-season so the campground was nearly empty. During the summer, the campground is well-populated. Wi-Fi is available, but I didn't use it. Restrooms are private rooms that contain both shower, toilet and sink. Restrooms were clean. I didn't use showers so can't speak to heat/pressure. Firewood is sold by the stick (your choice). Owners are onsite and keep a close eye on activity. I will definitely camp here again during Gauley Season. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Camped there after calling ahead to inquire about space for a 40 footer. Was told space was available. Upon turning off the main highway into the park just barely made contact with a pole supporting the park's billboard. Had to back up to gain clearance. Was told I was second MH to hit the sign that week. Area had received lots of rain in prior two days. Campground was very soggy and it was very hard to find a suitable space dry enough to avoid getting our MH stuck in the mud! Signs in the campground tell exiting campers to turn left around the park registration office. Not possible for a 40 footer to make that turn without backing up at least once. Very disappointed with the park and cannot recommend it for "big rigs"! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Clean restrooms - rundown park. Motorhome was very close to river which made for a nice view however, was glad that it was not rainy. No grass close to river and can only imagine what it is like in the rain. Helpful staff - somewhat unorganized though. Some of the travel trailers appear permanent and are run down. Area is beautiful but driving to it is challenging. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This campground is a fine place for an overnight or weekend stop. Not recommended for a week long stay. Grounds are right along the New River in Gualey Bridge where the New River and Gualey River join to form the Kanawha. There are a lot of attractions in the area. This is the only full hook up campground in the area. Great fishing. The lots are very sandy because when the river is up the campground floods. The operators are nice but will allow anyone in. Neighbors on one side were roudy drunks but eventually left that evening. Neighbors on other side used a log splitter from 6pm to 10pm splitting firewood. We felt that the owners could do a lot better with this campground. We were there in August and it wasn't crowded at all. The New River Campground, Inc. purchased November 1998 by the West Virginia Paralyzed Veterans of America, Inc. (WV-PVA, which was started in 1990. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
