The park itself is nice – pretty waterfalls – great location for “jumping off” into Minneapolis (say Mall of America). The CG’s obviously been remodeled. I’d give it a higher rating, but 1. the facilities are not well designed for RV’s (our section was section 200 and it had no showers); also, our section had water spigots (they looked brand new) but the spigots were not threaded for hoses, so couldn’t use them to fill up RV tank. So we had to go to section 100 to shower (that section has nice showers, but it has no trees/looks desolate/and is close to the busy road) and to section 300 at the dump station to fill up our water tank. Just seemed like a strange layout to me. Maybe section 300 would be the place to stay, but the office told us that they didn’t have spaces there with electric that would accommodate our RV’s. We arrived on a Tuesday and the CG was virtually empty. And, also on the downside 2. the staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. When we were assigned our spot by the staff, I pointed to the “restroom facility” on the map of our section, and asked if there were showers. The answer was “yes” but it turns out there are not. Then when DW went back to complain, she was scolded for not having the CG pass in her window – we had just checked in and hadn’t even parked in our campsite yet! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Camped at the lower level site. New upper level just opened. Lower level was very shaded. The upper level was all open with very little shade. Nice trails and beach next to campsites. Paved roads made driving in easy. Have camped here many times and the campgrounds are always full. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

This is campground in transition. The "old" campground is very limited and not big rig friendly. However, they have converted a parking lot... yes, a parking lot for big rigs. The park only offers a few electric sties, no water or sewer. The State has funded a campground expansion but they will not upgrade to full hook up. Also they only have a one lane dump site with only one fresh water hose. Big line ups here. The park is fantastic, the campground lacks modern equipment. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Campsites in the regular campground are OK. People with larger RV's will have trouble though. The park does have 6 "RV sites" which is where we stayed in and am rating. These sites are nothing but a parking lot that the park just installed electrical boxes and calls them "RV sites". There is no grass, no fire rings, no shade, and not enough space between RV's - you had better like your next door neighbor! You got the feeling of camping on an RV dealers lot. With all the space that this state park has they could have done a lot better adding sites for RV's. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
