This review is based on the fact that this is a Rustic campground. We stayed here for 6 nights and really enjoyed our stay, the weather was real nice. The problems with this campground first off is that Lake Michigan is experiencing a problem with algea, we could swim nearby our campsite but had to walk a little ways up a point to get to good clean water, and the sites on the water are beautiful, but the water is rocky, water shoes are a must! There is a sandy beach area near the day use area at the south end of the park, provided you walk south once on the beach. We also used a Charlevoix city park, called Ferry Beach that was nice and an easy drive (either side street near Glenns or 7-11 will take you there). Another fact is that a cement plant is in view from the water front sites and it has a constant noise about it, but nothing to obnoxious or anything that would upset your night of sleep, but it's there. The pit toilets were cleaned every morning and weren't to bad. There is no dump station, so we brought a porta potty and small shower shelter for the kids to use, this worked real nice to keep the black tank from filling to quick. Water, if needed, is from hand pumps, so bring containers if this might be needed, the water had the usual hard water taste, but wasn't bad. Any site on the water is pretty nice with plenty of privacy, I ran my generator in the evening and didn't have to worry about disturbing my neighbors, who on our last morning were both running theirs and I didn't even realize it. So the quiet and privacy here are real nice and the lake views great with occasional frieghters heading into the cement plant. The town of Charlevoix is only a mile or two away and the grocery store is before you have to go into the downtown area that can be real busy and congested, especially after the drawbridge has been up. There are plenty of shops and stores in town to check out if your into that too. Overall a real nice area with a real quiet campground. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
