The good: Well maintained and relatively clean, the office staff are friendly, there are sites available on the Grand River and there's a great playground for the kids. The bad: The campground seems to be overrun by permanent residents that really take away from the visual appeal of the park. A lot of old equipment. One resident had a dune buggy. Another one had erected a plastic/PVC tent garage that stuck out into the road. Pets were unleashed. There were permanent residents coming in at midnight with cargo trailers. We camped with a 45' DP. They told us on the phone they could accommodate it with full hookups, but we ended up on a 30 Amp non-sewer site. The roads are gravel and very dusty. We would definitely not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Conestoga is well maintained and is a family operated park. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed a park that has lots of respite from railroad and freeway sounds. The spaces are large and have thick grass. The sites are pretty level and some back up to the Grand River with an excellent view from above. There is a boat ramp and the sites are shady. Staff are friendly and helpful. TV via antenna brings in 6 stations. WI-Fi is good. We will gladly stay here again when in the area. It's about a 35 minute drive from here to downtown Grand Rapids. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We really enjoyed our stay here. There are sites that overlook the Grand River from a bluff area, very peaceful. Would recommend either 14 or 16. Most sites are shaded. Pool was very nice though didn't actually go in. They have a boat ramp for boating on the river and the river is channeled out to Lake Michigan. Only complaints (mildly): one of the seasonals has a very foul mouth, another seasonal's kids were up way past "quiet time" and very loud, they didn't seem to enforce the quiet time, though most were quiet. The grass needed cutting and the bathrooms, though clean need to be remodeled. Would definitely go back this fall. Should be beautiful. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
