Solberg County Park is a very nice family friendly campground that is around 5 miles outside of Phillips, WI. While the park says it can handle large RV's, I would say bigger units, larger then 38', would have a tough time getting around. The park has electric hookups to 50 amps but water has to be carried in. The dump station and the potable water spigot is just inside the main entrance of the park so fresh water can be loaded, for around a $1, into your tank before you proceed to your campsite. This campground does not take reservations as it's first come, first served so if you get their early on Friday you should be able to find a site but kiss your chances away if you try late Friday or on Saturday. It normally fills fast. There are a couple pretty nice, lake swimming areas without life guards, so it's up to you to keep an eye on your kids. The campground caretaker is right on the ball so watch your P's & Q's when it comes to the campground rules. There is a boat ramp so you can launch your boat for some great fishing on Solberg Lake. I recommend this family campground, but like I said get there early so you can be sure to get a site. Happy camping. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Really a family oriented type park. A lot of young people were spending time swimming at the end of the peninsula. Not a lot of outside activities if you don't fish or swim. But it is still a nice lakeside park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
It was off season so flush toilets were closed and locked and no water was available to fill fresh water tank. The pit toilets were open. Power at campsites was available. Spacious waterfront sites have a great views of the lake. It is probably very crowded during the height of the season. We spent one night while passing through the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I can't imagine how hard it is to get a site here. It's well worth it! I think every site is on water. Great hiking trails, nice beach/play area for kids. Great host family. A little drive to get back to town. The loons on the water at night and in the morning made it all worth while. Big sites, easy to get into. Have heard some things about the water quality since we were there, but I haven't had a chance to validate those concerns. If I can get a site, we'll go back! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
