We stayed in the free camping area. Clear Lake is a gorgeous lake that is riddled with trash, broken beer bottles, and human waste. Campers have managed to completely trash the grounds. The fishing has always been good when we've been there but after one night, I wasn't feeling safe and was ready to go. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a Mount Hood National Forest Service campground and we really enjoyed our stay. It is located approximately 9 miles east of Government Camp on highway 26 and about a 2 miles off of the highway on a paved road. Stay on Forest Route 2630/220, don't turn right until you get to the campground. We were there after Labor Day and there were only a few people camping. The campsites next to the lake are $18.00 and the others are $16.00 a night. There is water but it's a hand pump. Vault toilets are provided and were clean. The elevation is 3600 ft. so it did get cold at night. Very busy on holidays and weekends but, you can make reservations through Reserveamerica. If the campground had pressure water so we could have filled our tank we would have stayed longer and I would have given it a 10. We will be returning next year for sure!! We camped here in a Motorhome.
