Nice spot, far off the beaten path. You wouldn't expect this little oasis in the middle of the sorghum fields. Loooong drive to anything, so don't plan on running to the grocery store for milk after you arrive. The lake is nice and has picnic tables near the water, as well as a few play areas for kids. Sandy beach and fishing. Verizon signal reaches weakly (OK with booster). Shady sites and plenty of open space. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This State Park is quiet and most sites have a view of the lake. Swimming in on the opposite side of the lake. The dump station is positioned such that only the last campground can use it upon entry or exit. Campers heading for a different campground have to do a circle of the last campground to get turned around. It is a long way off of US 54. We camped here in a Motorhome.
12 miles south of Meade and US 54 on Kansas 23 is Meade State Park. Beautiful State Park surrounding the lake, that is open year round. Main roads are paved while camp roads are gravel. We used one of the pull through sites and had easy entry and exit. Large level site with fire ring, grill and picnic table. Staff was friendly and helpful. They are in process of switching from their own reservation system to using Reserve America, therefore it might be a good idea to call ahead. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice state park. Many sites are lakeside or have good view of lake. Lake was closed to swimming, boating and fishing due to algae bloom, but camping was good. There are 4 loops, many with elect. There are 3 long pull-throughs in one loop (which we did not see until we we were leaving). No TV or WiFi. Sites are large, fairly level and shady. Looks great for tent camping. Would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
What a nice little park! You're driving through some pretty boring flat farmland, and all of a sudden here's a lake! The sites are very nice. There are 4 separate loops with electric and water, and our site (A loop) had 50 amps. Not sure about the others. Plenty of tent sites as well. It's a little oasis in the middle of nowhere! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Large tree shaded spaces on the shores of an 80 acre lake. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very quiet, no traffic noise, no water skiing or jet skis (boats have to be operated at a no wake speed). Was told there is very good fishing for bluegill, cat and large mouth bass. Nature trails around the lake. Definitely would go back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
