We were expecting a nice place from looking at the website photos of Van's. We were very, very disappointed. The photos were taken a number of years ago, and does not show what the campground is really like. Essentially, Van's is a big rv parking lot. Yuck. No vegetation or grass as shown in the old photos. Very little space between sites and the campground seems in very poor shape. There is ample space to park your boat with your camper, but that's about it. Due to the low water conditions for the past several years, their private boat ramp was closed and appeared to have been for some time. Their "restrooms" are simply porta-pottys here and there. The rate reflects non-holiday. If you plan to stay there during a summer holiday, 4th of July for example, the price is 4x to $120/night for 30A full hookups! Yikes! (No refunds!) Better off to stay elsewhere. Additionally, the long road from the highway is now loose rock. Watch your windshield. Will not be back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Nice campground by the lake. Showers require purchased tokens. Bathrooms were clean but somehow a lot of flying bugs got in. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were here on Labor Day weekend, and they obviously oversold the facility: very chaotic as they had campers and boats everywhere. Sites were very close together: most sites you have to share your picnic area with your neighbor, which is fine if you know your neighbor. There's little grass and lots of trees. We had trouble getting satellite reception. There's a nice convenience store with gas. We would stay here again in a pinch, but would probably stay down the road: seems quieter and more enjoyable. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stopped here on our way back from MN. We really enjoyed it and are planning a trip back. Most of the sites have a lot of trees and there are sites with lake views. They only take reservations during Memorial Day and Labor Day Weekend (3 day min.), otherwise, it is always first come; first serve for campsites only. This seems to be the place if you want to fish. We saw a lot of people bringing in the fish. The place will tow your boat to the launching area if you don't have a vehicle to pull it there. Boat rentals are available. They also offer storage of your RV or Camper for $40/mo. They have a play area for the kids. We encountered a wind storm but it was no problem for our Hybrid/Trailer. They have a very nice store where you can buy your license and anything you forgot. A gas pump is available too. The sites are approx. less than 1/4 mile from beach area. It looks like the water used to come up to the lake view sites a long time ago. I would recommend trying Van's. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This park is all sand on Lake McConaghay. No pavement or grass. Lots of big shade trees and good electric power but almost no water pressure. Some sewer connections are uphill from the campsite. There is a road to a nearby boat ramp and lots of fishers in this park. It's very dusty and all sand. The lake was lower than normal so the park is not right on the lake now. If the lake was up to normal then there would be lakeside campsites. No internet at all but satellite tv worked. The owners are older and get the job done but not real friendly. I would not drive out there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
