We were a little concerned about this campground, since the latest review on this site was from 2011, but we decided to give it a try based on their description of campsite size. We had no trouble finding the campground. Part of the road was gravel but it was in good shape. Might not be after heavy rain. When we got to the gate there was a sign that said the maximum height was a little over 11 feet. We have a 12 1/2 ft motorhome. The girls in the gatehouse said that the roof used to extend over the entrance road causing the low limit. There was also a tree there with low hanging branches that would probably hit the top of our motorhome. We went around to the left of the building which was more open. The girls checking us in were very friendly. After checking us in they just left us to find our way to our site. We had to ask for a map with directions showing the best way to get to the site. The interior roads were part paved and part gravel, relatively narrow with low hanging tree limbs. Our site was unlike any we have had before. It was on the river. From the road to a tree line before the river was at least 70 - 80 feet. From the tree line it was another 40-50 feet to the river. Between campsite hook-ups was about 100 ft. They are side by side hook-ups. We were able to back in to the hook-up parallel to the road so our patio was facing the river. Down a small hill from there was an area for a campfire. The area where we chose to park was fairly level grass. All the sites are grass, which could be a problem after heavy rains. We didn't use any of the facilities there. The restrooms were latrines. We did not check out the showers. If you choose to take a canoe trip they have their own canoe livery which will take you up river to start your trip which will end at the campground. Their park rules say that quiet time starts at 11 PM and was strictly enforced but there was a large group of campers near us that had a very loud party well after that. Perhaps the campground should have someone patrol the grounds after 11 to enforce the rule. Overall we would stay here again for just the size of the campsites. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We have been going to Mohican Wilderness the last 3 years. We have 4 boys and they all love Mohican Wilderness. Camp staff is always friendly. They have large sites, lots of room to stretch out. We are planning our 3rd trip for the year (discounts for repeat visits). We have saw deer in the park itself on occasion, along with squirrels, chipmunks, and geese. Although some areas appear a little run down, they are making improvements. There is always plenty to do. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We did not realize that this was at the end of a road with quite a few campgrounds along it, nor that this "end of the road" was gravel for the last couple of miles, or we would have chosen differently. Basically, unless there's a whole another area for big rigs, I wouldn't take anything larger than the 22' Class C we were driving. We had hairpin turns that our large RV would have never made, and low hanging branches that scraped the top of this little one, and that was on the roads, not the site itself. The site was just a long strip of grass with electric poles popping up every two spots, and picnic tables to give you an idea of where to pull up and park. It was fairly level, which is good, since there is absolutely no way to level a rig on grass next to a river. Our riverfront lot was about 150'-200' through the trees to the river. The non-riverfront spot was directly behind us. Unless you were going to stay for a few days and set up firepit and tents down in the bottoms more, there is no reason to pay for the "closer" spot. Overall, I thought it was pricey for a grass spot and electric and water. Again, if you were going to stay a week or two and canoe down the river, you might think this was a great location. However, be aware that there are many, many campgrounds strung along Wally Rd and many of them might offer easier access and better facilities for the price. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful campground. The sites are truly large, as advertised on the Mohican Wilderness website. The facilities are very well kept. There is so much to do at this park including canoeing and horseback riding. There is also a Nature Center, Blacksmith doing demonstrations, game room, and a Craft Center located next to the main store area. My child really enjoyed all of these amenities, especially the crafts! There is also an area known as Kenhurst which has many building modeled after life in the 1800's. We were not able to attend Kenhurst, but will on our next trip. I will definitely return and bring my Girl Scout Troop! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
