This is a wonderful place for a one-night stop going to or from Halifax or PEI. As others have noted the overnight sites are pull-throughs that face the river; much more pleasant scenery than at most RV parks. It's easy to get to the park from highway 2 other than the fact that the last ~half mile is a steep descent to the river. Just make sure your brakes work well or you're going to end up in the river! As has been mentioned, if you have a reservation, you park and setup first and then go to the office to register. The wifi worked pretty well as did our Rogers/Fido modem. We'll definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park gives a great pull-through for overnight. The motel is to the right, up the hill to book it with your card. They do not process your card, just hold the info for the night you book. They have a very nice laundry area, and the most wonderful view. About 12 miles up the road is the longest covered bridge in the world. It is worth it to see. The people are very friendly. It is a wonderful overnight stay. We stayed 3 nights since our next stop was booked. You are right on the St. John River here in a gravel pull-through site. Wal-Mart is in town if you need it. Would love to stay here again on our way out of PEI, and NS. Beautiful, awesome. Loved it! We camped here in a Motorhome.
The park is just a strip of land along the riverbank. The views are just fantastic. You get full hookups on a pull-through site (they do have some back-ins away from the river) and fast free Internet. Sites are gravel as are roads. Our site took some leveling but nothing out of the ordinary. Nothing special except the views. Great overnight park or for a weekend. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We got here early afternoon and had choice of sites but by supper they were full. You have to walk up the hill to the motel office to register. PPA was accepted. Nothing special about campground; this is not a family destination place, ie, no pool, no playground, But it's a super location for quiet and rest from the road. Easy on/off highway and short drive to campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A perfect place for an overnight before crossing the border back to the US. Sites are long enough to not require unhooking, and reasonably level. Good 50 amp service, and good Wifi. My only complaint is the fact that you pick a site, and then walk up to the office at the motel to register. I'm too out of shape to do much of that, but that's my problem, not theirs. If we are ever back in this area we would come back in an instant, crossing the border in either direction. I would have given them a higher rating but I'm sure it isn't a 10, and for most folks, it doesn't offer enough amenities to rate it a 9. As I said, it's a perfect place for an overnight. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This would have gotten a much better rating had the Passport America rate been accepted as advertised. We arrived during the week. The gentleman behind the desk said he wasn't accepting PPA at the moment due to "heavy booking." About 1/2 the sites were available and there was nothing going on. A very quiet place not too far off the highway. Our site was a level a pull-through on gravel with good water pressure and good 50 amp electric. WiFi worked well. We found the $33.90 fee objectionable, however, and left after one night. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here for one night as a quick stop over. They were very accommodating and we were able to have face-to-face site with our travel companions which was very convenient. Free firewood and with such a small campground there was one campfire which all attended which was very nice to get to meet other campers and share stories. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a great little campground for an overnight stop or maybe a day or two. Close to town and shopping and right on the St John river. I marked it down because there is nothing for children other than the river and it isn't very attractive. They accept Passport America. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
