Quirky little campground in Wells. Joy's campground fits right in with the atmosphere of Barkerville and the gold rush. She is very friendly and always ready with a story about the area. She makes everyone feel welcome and at home. We stay every year. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is an interesting park. Not all the sites are full service and some are quite tight because of the trees and bushes. The sites have a table and fire pit and there are gazebos around the property for anyone to use. There is also a TV on the deck with satellite that anyone can use. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. She also leads gold panning lessons and explorations. This is one of only two in town that have services and close to Barkerville, the 1930s gold rush town which is the reason to be here in the first place. Be aware that when you leave Quesnel and head toward Wells and Barkerville that you will be leaving cell service, Internet service, and mostly satellite service behind. My GPS wouldn't work there either because of the heavy tree cover. There are pay phones so you can call out if necessary and a Government run Internet site in town for $2 for 30 minutes. We camped here in a Motorhome.
