Sites with water and electricity make for much nicer camping during hot weather. Dump station on site. Comfortable size sites, quiet even with live music next door since the music ended at 10 pm. Walking distance to everywhere in the village. Nice fence with places to put up a line for wet towels, etc. Site was not pull through, but large enough to back in easily. Open year around. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
A small basic campground in back of the gas station on Ocracoke Island. New manager is trying to clean up the campground. He is trying to control the free roaming dogs and feral cats in the area. A few 50 amp sites and most sites are for 35 foot or less. We get the E/W site and use the dump station a few times during our 2 week stay. In October, lots of surf fisherman were there - us included. We had no problems and it was very quiet. The bugs were not too bad until the last night but I hadn't sprayed around our area for a few days. We plan to stay here again next year. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I made our reservations in August for an October stay. When we arrived they did not have our reservation. We were told we could dry camp, next to the road and have a hook up site the following night. It had rained and the campground was swamped. We have a 38 foot motor home and doubt we would have fit anyway. The sites are crammed into a small area behind the only gas station on the island. There are not good interior roads. They do offer a dump station. Even though they are on "island time", I don't think this is very professional. We camped here in a Motorhome.
