I called for reservations about 2 weeks in advance and had no problem. They no longer require decals on vehicles, but be prepared to show license, registration, and proof of insurance (though we didn't have to.) Check in is at auto hobby shop. Getting into park area after 2 PM may be a bit strange because of 1-way traffic OUT bound so you head for the Navy Lodge. Not a problem. Upper sites are all concrete pads and reasonably level with nice table on concrete bump outs and excellent hookups. Lower level sites are completed and nicely graveled with good hookups. Bathhouse was clean and never had a wait for a shower. Not a lot of shade on upper level, but we were out most of the day with family. Wi-Fi is now free and good connections. We will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
About one third of the spots are under extensive renovation and will be much better spots when completed. The other spots are all paved, some not so level but acceptable. We have stayed here many times as our son-in-law was stationed here and will be back here in less then a year. It is convenient to I-295 and not far off I-95 at south end of Jacksonville. We camped here in a Motorhome.
One of the nicest spots we have encountered from California to Florida and back. Long term has slabs available, but limited shade. Free washer/dryers available. Only issue was the position of the sewer drain. Could have made it work however had to re-position for a down hill drain. Easy pull through for a 35ft fifth wheel. WiFi available at $8/day, but free internet access to base facilities/sites. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I agree with the below rating as for the convenient locations and golfing. The beautiful St Johns River cannot be seen from any of the RV sites because of the trees/bushes. Wi-Fi costs $8/day but the weekly rate was about $15. Most of the sites were sloped enough to provide a problem getting level - we never did get level fore & aft. Our electrical box's 30A plug didn't work but I had a 50A to 30A converter plug which saved the day. General maintenance is non-existent with electrical box doors lying about and the bathrooms not being cleaned in at least three of the five days we stayed here. The bath/restrooms & laundry required an entry code. The washing machines & the dryers were free - a nice plus. The shower curtains in the men's room looked like they had never been cleaned, along with mildew & rust in one of the shower stalls. Wall tiles were missing in some of the toilet stalls giving the appearance of neglect. Although the price was nice, we would not use this RV park again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The RV park is located on beautiful Manatee Point on the Saint Johns River. The river offers fishing, boating, Manatee watching and a cool breeze. A full service marina with boat rentals is convenient to the park. NAS is a golfers paradise with 27 holes of year round golf. The course is within walking distance (500) yards from the park and Mulligans offers breakfast for you early risers. Down town Jacksonville is just 20 minutes away. St Augustine the nations oldest city is just 30 minutes south. Orlando is just 2.5 hours away and Daytona Beach is 2 hours. ITT has all the attraction tickets you may need at discount prices. There is also a free laundry for the use of the campers. Next door is the Navy Lodge for those that don't have an RV. WARNING: Firearms are not allowed on base so don't even think about it. We camped here in a Motorhome.
