We had the Escapee rate. We asked for a satellite friendly site when we booked for three nights. When we arrived the site we were to be on was not satellite friendly so we were moved to one that was but it was wet and the sewer ended up backing up. The man who came to help did not have equipment available to help. The barn dance on Saturday with Geno Delafose was a blast and a bonus!! We would park here again if we were in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here for 2 nights while traveling in the area. The campground is nicely laid out with good space between sites and full hook-ups. The owners were nice and friendly at check in. It can be noisy on the week-ends with other campers partying and playing music. The bathroom and shower facilities are in need of serious upgrade. There's a lock missing on one shower room, no shower curtains, sandy floors, and the broken show heads. Basic stuff that should be easy to fix. I would not return due to the noise and bathroom status. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Location is on hwy 13 going north just on the right after you cross the bridge crossing into Evangeline Parish. Sites are gravel, level, with grass in between and mature, very tall pine trees. There is a lake and a sand beach. There are no picnic tables at the sites. There are long pull-through sites with plenty of space between sites. The park is very well maintained. They do not have trash pickup at site. There are beggar's lice (the plant, not the bug) in the grass. Due to the cold temperatures and time of year there were no flies or mosquitoes, but lots of love bugs. Roads are gravel with standing water in some places after a rain. WiFi was pass worded and had good speed and strength. AT&T is max signal strength and Verizon is 4 out of 5 bars. Water, electricity, sewer connections are all in good shape. Cable with 7 channels all of which dropped out frequently. Antenna picked up 25 channels, but during the day the signal would go from good to completely gone causing repeated dropouts that lasted for a couple seconds. This was on several channels and was no fault of the RV park. During the week there aren't many campers, but come Friday the park starts filling up with bumper pull trailers, kids and camp fires. Saturday there is a Cajun barn dance until midnight with very good prices on adult beverages. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is awful. This is a PARTY park!!!! There is no warning when you check in about the party barn. They have a barn that is the hit of the community and they play the music till around 2 am. We stayed one night and I would never stay here again. Stay away if you are looking for peaceful stay. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a very nice facility which could be a great RV park - with proper management. There are no rules enforced; which, makes it difficult for campers who are accustomed to following rules and sleeping at night. The pros: the sites are fairly level, long and wide, and set among tall pines through which campers can maneuver fairly easily. The Wi-Fi is strong and antenna TV is adequate. The check-in (presumably by the owner) was friendly and accommodating. There are no long-term residents. The cons: this is a party place on the weekend, and no one seems to be around to enforce quiet times or pet rules. The electrical breakers are a little weak, also. We came in on Friday, and there was a band and/or stereo that played loudly until 2 a.m. Saturday night the park had a Cajun band in their entertainment barn, and we were able to sleep through that. The Lakeview is convenient to the Liberty Theater and Fred's Lounge, which we enjoy occasionally, but we'll find another place to camp next time. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Friendly campground in a very interesting small town that offers much to see. We stayed here a week and the surrounding area provided much to see and do. The campground was quiet during the week, but lots of kids and activity on the weekends. Sites were level, roomy enough for a 40' motorhome with tow vehicle. Rate reflects Passport America discount. Great value! We would return if in this area again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Owners are working on the park and there are some areas that still need work, the restrooms and showers were clean but need some work, otherwise I couldn't say anything bad about it. The comment by other guests that it is a party place and loud are sort of true but only on the weekends and they do have rules regarding the quite hours and everyone seemed to abide by the rules. The thing to understand about this park is that most of the people staying there on the weekends live in or near that community and they all seem to know each other and they gather there on the weekend. We did not find them offensive, quite the contrary, they were all very friendly. If you are a "stuffed shirt" this might not be the place for you though. We were there nearly two weeks and on the weekdays we were one of only two or three campers in the park with the exception of long term campers that are in a different section of the park. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will stay here again if we are ever in the area again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here a week while in the area. They have a nice lake but no fish. It rained most of the time we were here and the roads, not being paved, held up pretty good. Be aware: on the weekend the park fills up, and I mean to the brim. We stayed down across from the office so we could still see the water from our site. If we go back, we will stay in the back, away from the weekend traffic. We will return if we are in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Park was nice and clean. The beach was clean. The kids loved it. Plenty of shade. No real complaints. Wish we would have been able to bring a small ice chest to beach. All in all: a great place. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
A very family friendly park with several playgrounds and a swimming lake with a sandy beach plus a large lake that folks were fishing in. There is also an old barn that they have dances in on Saturday evenings. Most of sites are nestled in tall mature pines. I would have given it a higher score if they had more trash barrels and cleaned the grounds. Our small dogs were constantly snatching up meat bones and such on our walks. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The park has trash such as cigarette butts (large quantities) at each campsite as well as trash. No one goes around the sites to clean up. Dogs run through park without being on leash and campers do not pick up after pets. Campers are rude and have little or no camping etiquette. They walk across campsite with no respect or regards to others. It is a party place particularly on weekends, loud music at all hours. No management on site to assure rules are followed. Not sure if there are any rules. The park is newly opened and has potential, however without rules and better management it will not have a successful future. Do not plan to return there and fully intend to tell my friends not to come here. Not a place for "snow birds" to go in winter. Just too nasty. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice wooded sites, some right on the lake, which we had #209. Fishing is allowed, no license needed since its a private park. Small BBQ pavilions throughout the park. Sandy, man-made beech and dock. Some sites had fire rings. Trash cans were hard to find. Hook-ups were good. Nice people. They have barn dances Friday and Saturday nights, $10 if you're a patron, $12 for a guest. Two car parking on sites; 3rd vehicle $5 charge. Guests must register at the office. Chapel is being built on site. We stayed here the weekend before Mardi Gras and we got to see the Coure' de Gras all line up on their horses and parade floats at the park for their ride into Mamou, LA to celebrate Mardi Gras. If you want to have a good Cajun time, go to Lakeview Park and Beach in Eunice. 45 minutes to casino in Kinder and about the same to Evangeline Downs in Opelousas, LA if you want the gaming scene. Easy towns to get around in. We will be back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
