We stayed here at the end of the year and rang in 2014 here. It was a quiet, smaller park with large sites and trees and foilage between sites allowing privacy. Our site was long and wide. The bathrooms were always clean whenever I used them. Good hot showers and heated bathroom. We used this campground as a base for touring nearby Charleston which was about a 45 minute drive. The price was very good and will stay here again when we come back to tour Charleston again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very pleasantly surprised! This is one of those state parks that is away from everything. Our stay was the most quiet stay we have had anywhere. The campground has gravel roads and the sites are packed gravel as well. All of the sites are mostly flat and level. Those that are not, would require minimal effort to level your camper. The sites are very spacious and all sites have trees/shrubs between them. Bathhouse was clean and well stocked. Staff and CG host all very friendly. AT&T 4G spotty at best, as was cell service. The only complaint I would have is there is no trash bin in the campground. All trash has to be taken to a recycle center near the front gate, which means taking a vehicle, bike, or a really long walk. We will stay here again when in the area We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Spent one night here - mainly to check it out for kayaking at a later date. It's a small campground; but each site is shielded with vegetation, so it is somewhat private. Sites are flat. It's about 1/4 mile from the campground down to the river. River is slow flowing and should make for good kayaking; except for the monster horse flies and mosquitos. The dog had enough of the horse flies while in the river and just ran back to the campground. There is a limited amount of trail hiking (only one trail). Noticed lots of trash around. One reason may be that there are no containers for day-trippers, only one by the front gate. Restrooms were clean and stocked. One TV channel, one bar on Verizon data, and sporadic cell reception. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice, remote, quiet, spacious sites. Crazy with mosquitos. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This state park is located on the Edisto River, a popular canoeing and kayaking route. Many of the campers during my stay were using the river for recreation. The small campground has approximately 25 gravel sites on a single loop. No effort is made at dust suppression and since it was quite dry during my stay, the clouds kicked up by vehicles were a problem. Campsites are close together but fairly well shielded from adjacent sites by vegetation. There is marginal cell service. The park is located on state Highway 61 which is a direct route into Charleston, passing by the major plantations open to tourists along the Ashley River. The distance in to the city is about 30 miles – allow 45 minutes to an hour for the trip. We camped here in a Motorhome.
