We loved this park, our rig fit perfectly. Sites mostly level but some leveling needed, no water hookups but there is a water hookup near the bathhouse. Folks, this is a state park, so yes they are going to charge you for park entrance as the campgrounds are all located within the park right off the main roads. We knew this ahead of time and planned for it. The charge was not phenomenal and we felt it helped keep this beautiful park in great condition. We loved this area! The electric worked fine and we were there 12 days. The bathrooms kept quite clean, no issues there and I'm picky about that sort of thing. The road into the park was a tad winding, but the speed limit is set at 30 so you must not hurry through it. In addition, there is much wildlife and people are pulling off to the side to watch buffalo, etc. Yes there was a huge bull bison walking down the main road on more than one day we were there. Don't miss the wildlife loop, you can see numerous amounts of wildlife, bison, prairie dogs, antelope..etc. Across from the park is a small lake with a lodge, they do serve food at all lodges and the one at Legion was quite good. We didn't expect much but were pleasantly surprised and it was very convenient. Do not remember seeing a playground for children and this is a very small one road campground. There is a Sunday church service at Blue bell amphitheater on Sunday mornings, we enjoyed the 2 young men who put their heart into that ministry and the message given. I could have spent all summer there. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We really enjoyed this campground. It is a small campground tucked in across the road from Legion Lake in a small valley. It only has one road with a turnaround at the end. We talked to the campground hosts when we arrived to see if we could check in early and found them to be very nice and flexible. Over the course of our 2 day visit we saw them every day walking the campground. While there was no water hookup or dump station here (I believe Game Lodge campground had the only dump station), the restrooms made up for this. Probably the nicest restrooms at any public park I've been to. Large, well lit, clean, multiple, private, shower stalls were available. We had a buffalo hang out grazing in the campground one day that got a lot of attention. Legion Lake is very pretty, there is a store and restaurant next to it along with a swim beach and trail that goes around it. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Sites are asphalt and level. The campsite area and Legion Lake area was easy to navigate even with a 40' motorhome and toad. Camp host was great and very helpful. This is the finest state park I've been in ever. (40 states) I can't wait to come back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

South Dakota has stepped up to the plate in updating there State Parks in the Custer area (watch out Oregon). Very nice and clean with all hook ups except sewer for a reasonable price. We had Buffalo munching on grass within four feet of our door(very entertaining). We stayed here five days and had a great time. We camped here in a Motorhome.
