A true gem of a park. Very quiet, no wifi or solid cell phone service but that was the entire point of the trip. Very well kept, clean and very helpful staff. We will certainly stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I have stayed at this park twice now for 3 days each time and have enjoyed it both times. It is clean and the facilities are well kept, though the men's showers in the Phase I campground could use some bleach for the mildew (typical Florida). I have stayed in the Phase I area both times but will likely go to the Phase II area if I stay again due to the amount of traffic in Phase I using the boat ramp. Phase II appears to be very quiet. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We enjoy this park. Shaded sites and quiet surroundings. No fishing areas in campground, but a short drive to the fishing docks at the dam. The only issue is some campers don't clean up after their dog waste, which is wrong on their part! Bathrooms are kept clean and park is clean and RV friendly. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Another Gem! We love state parks most everywhere and this is another new-found favorite. Lots of birds, especially in Site 58, the last in the row. The only fault I'd mention is low water pressure, but we had water onboard, so showering was no problem. The Cross Florida Trail passes through the park and the Caravelle Wildlife Management Area is nearby with great trails and well-marked. You will LOVE it here! Camp hosts have been here for many years and offer a wealth of information. Enjoy! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground is on the border of the Ocala National Forest. We have camped here 3 times and we find it very quiet and friendly. The rangers and CG hosts are very helpful. The area is famous for the it's great bass fishing and ATV trails. We have rode through the passable dirt roads in our TOAD. Fun Stuff. All shopping is done in Palatka, Fl. Every store you can imagine is there. Limited cell phone service. We camped here in a Motorhome.
