This was our first time staying at Staunton River State Park so we decided to use the Memorial Day holiday weekend to try out the park. We got there at 3:30PM and was able to check-in to site #22. The park was completely full from locals which is a good sign that the locals like this park. The campground is laid out in a figure 8 loop with the bath house in the middle near the campground host. They offer firewood for $3 a bundle near the bath house and ice for $2 a bag at the visitor center. This campground is ideal for pop-ups but can be a bit tight for larger rigs unless you get one of the 3 pull-through sites. I have a 30ft travel trailer and it took me 4 times to get it get around the trees along site backing in at a 90 angle. If you take your time, then you'll have no problem getting your rig in the site. This park has an AWESOME Olympic size pool with water slides and a separate kiddy pool with lifeguards. Staying at the campground gets you free passes to the pool. Otherwise, it's cost money for the public to use. The park had scheduled events like S'mores, Campfire Cooking, Wagon Ride, Canoeing, Bee wax candle making, Geocaching and making homemade ice cream with the park staff. My kids love this park and asked "When are we coming back"! We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is another beautiful Virginia state park. Our sight was a long level pull through. There was a fair amount of shade. The park staff was friendly. We were here over the 75th birthday celebration and they had several events going on including night time fireworks. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is one of the original six State Parks in Virginia. The campground is great. It is a little tight for bigger rigs, but take it easy and watch your mirrors and no problem. The sites are leveled with good gravel and have all the usual stuff. The pool is large and popular. The hiking trails are excellent and very well maintained. Hike, bike, or horseback are all allowed on the trails. Fishing and boating on the Dan River and Staunton River are popular activities. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice and clean campground on Staunton River. Secured gate at nite. The largest swimming pool I have ever seen and very clean with life guards on duty. Also has a food bar to get a good lunch. Swimming is free to campers and they also have a day use for non campers. Park is big and has picnic areas and boating and fishing. Sites are clean and seperated by timbers in wooded area. Has water and electric hook-ups and a dump station. We will visit here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
