This is a very nice location by the Oyster River which provides for good fishing all year. We also discovered wonderful trails and nature walks nearby and at least two very good restaurants within 5-8 minutes drive. The park is fairly well looked after and the marina is always busy with boats in and out. The washrooms were clean but have the look of aged facilities. Pay showers are one dollar for 5 minutes. The park store was closed for renovations at the time of our visit. A local grocery store is within 5 minute drive or a 30 minute walk. The golf course is within walking distance, and it is a well designed 9 hole short course. A good area to stay if you are visiting Courtenay or Campbell River as it is the half way point. A meal at the Chinese buffet at Storeys Beach called the "Driftwood" is a must. The food is very good and the price is right. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

There is something for nearly everyone here; boat ramp, marina, some waterfront sites, pool, tennis court, adult pull-throughs, adult back-ins, beach, fishing. Lots of permanents, lots of families. Tables and fire rings. Children and dogs here seem particularly well behaved. We had a very good feeling about our stay here, will come back again. Water pressure 70 PSI. Environmentally handicapped; recycling is accidental, resulting from effort to contribute to a children’s charity by collecting plastic and aluminum beverage containers. If you ask about recycling, they will direct you to a good community recycling center a short distance outside the park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very poor narrow pavement/gravel/dirt interior roadways. Roadways also have very sharp interior curves and turns. Very large trees also make turning a larger rig an adventure. Several times we watched as others had to ask campers to move their vehicles so that they could make a routine turn. Most sites are lumpy uneven grass and are poorly maintained. Sites are very narrow and appear to have been poorly thought out in design and location. This park advertises that 80% of their business is return customers. That may be. Can't figure out why. It is very obvious that there are rigs there that spend the entire summer there, and some even bring their own lawnmower! This is the problem. These people also believe that they are not subject to the park rules and the park staff does nothing to enforce the park rules. For example rules state that each site is limited to one sleeping unit and one passenger vehicle per site. Other vehicles are supposed to be parked in overflow parking. Boats and trailers are not supposed to be parked in the camping area. The spot next to us had a large travel trailer, a large custom van, and an extended cab pickup truck, plus a boat and trailer. The result is that our view was totally blocked from our site as we were walled in by aluminum. When management was contacted they deferred to the "dayshift staff" and nothing was ever done. One staff member did mention that the fulltimers "seem to think that the rules do not apply to them." The marina is in poor condition and some of the finger peers are treacherous to walk out on. Security was never seen. The night before we left (Fri.) there were several large, loud drinking parties. One person decided that chopping wood at 3:15 in the morning was a reasonable thing to do. Management was unaware of the problem. We had fun during the time that we were there, in spite of the park, not because of the facility. We cannot recommend this place, and quite honestly when we explored the area we found another RV park another 3 KM down the road. Should have gone there. Next time we will. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I was a little disappointed with Pacific Playgrounds. We had heard such good things about this campground and had read great reviews. I found the sites very, very small. The playground was very mickey mouse for a capground of this size. It was very busy, the staff seemed overwhelmed. There is only 1 washroon building for the entire campground. Needless to say, it was full when we stayed there and the bathrooms were disgusting!!! My fiends did use the laundry however and said they were nice. We will not be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Good WiFi, but costs an extra $1/day. The free WiFi is only a single cable drop in the campground store. Sites vary, some are very nice, while others need improvement. The sewer drop at mine was on the highest part of the site so the hose ran uphill. Not a lot of room between sites, again, depends on which site you get. Lots to do for the kids, park is very good in that. I will look around first before returning to this campground or make sure I get a better site. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is an older park and doesn't cater to anything over 30 feet, some of the corners in the park were questionable for anything larger. The sites are close together and the hookups are at the very back of the site meaning that you needed longer sewer hose and electrical cords. The people on site were great, I had an issue with a low hanging branch, I asked they fixed immediately. If you have a boat and want to fish they have a great marina. This park was designed primarily for a fishing crowd so the roads are tight in parts of the park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
