Came back again this year! Becoming a favorite campground for us. Rated a 9 only because some folks might not like having to go to the main entrance for water. Very nice new park with improvements from last year. Now there is grass growing on the sites, the shrubbery is filling in between sites and they have leveled out a few that were sloped. Added horseshoe pits too! We like the quiet rustic nature of this park. Located close to the boat ramps for the Menominee river for fishing and recreation. Up the road is Pemene Falls. Quiet rustic camping with the added plus of electric on site, and water spigot at the entrance. Also was able to pick up three digital channels here (2-1,2-2 and 2-3) but faded during daytime somewhat, stronger at night. Also got one bar on AT&T phone and aircard for internet connectivity. Wonderful hosts bring you stack of kindling wood, a pack of personalized matches and help answer any questions you may have. P.S. Fill in blanks require an answer if the showers were clean: YES NO or DIDNT USE THEM. Well: if there are NO showers, how do you answer that? We camped here in a Motorhome.
We rated this high because of the peace and quiet and rustic sites. It's a privately owned campground and a caretaker lives nearby and brings you a bundle of kindling wood and a box of matches! This is a brand new campground near the Chalk Hills Dam on the Menominee river with GREAT fishing and boat access nearby. We enjoyed the animals and peaceful quality of this park. First 5 or 6 sites are 50 amp, rest are 30 amp. There is a water spigot near the entrance to fill your tank before parking. There are no showers, but there are very clean pit toilets. Sprint air card was able to access a weak signal, which is super for the UP of Michigan. Also weak cell signal on roaming with Cellcom phone, I think it was accessing Alltell towers. We have camped here twice this summer and we will go back again and again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
