So, we are going to be spending a couple of days in the Big Bend area in June. Not much time and I know it is going to be hot.

Anyone have any recommendations on highlights to check out?

We don't have passports, would it be worth getting them to visit Boquillas?

At that time of year you will probably want to spend most if not all of your time in the Chisos Basin area

When entering the Big Bend Nat'l Park, stop at the visitors center and get some info.

Fort Stockton has the Buffalo Soldier Fort. McDonald's Observatory near Fort Davis, TX. Especially, nice if you can get the Special Viewing Nights event.

Thanks for the advice. We have decided to leave Big Bend for another trip as our time would be limited and don't want to give it short shift.

We are doing a detour toward Fort Davis and the McDonald Observatory. My wife loves astronomy and we will be able to catch one of their Star Party nights.

If you have the time, drive the Davis Mountain Scenic loop. There is also the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center and Botanical Garden in Fort Davis.

The plan right now is to camp in the Fort Davis area and do a star party at the observatory. Did not know of the botanical gardens, my wife may be very interested in that.

There is a State Park very close to Fort Davis that is beautiful for camping/RV'ing.
