We are planning to go to the Crystal River area in summer and would like to do one of the boat trips to see manatees. We would love to find an RV park that was within walking distance of a company offering tours, or had a shuttle (or nearby public bus service) into Crystal River marina. Any suggestions very gratefully received!

We just happened to return from a trip to florida that included Crystal River. We did not take the RV and I don't have any suggestions of where to stay but want to make sure you are aware that the manatees are not in the river in the summer months. They migrate and only come into the river during the winter. We just did a snorkeling trip from Plantation Inn and we saw a few manatees but it is end of season now.

You can always see manatees in Crystal River though they are fewer during summer months.

Some hang around Homosassa Wildlife Park year round (who wouldn't?) I think there are a few parks in the area. You might want to check them out.

Chassahowitzka River Campground is a nice campground. Read reviews on Trip Advisor, says it's pricey. Seven Sisters springs is close by and tons of manatees hang out there. You can always Uber to the marina from a nearby park, no need to walk. Homassassa Wildlife park is worth a visit for sure - they do have year-round manatees since it's spring fed, 72 degrees year round. Very nice park to spend the day, lots of other animals there too.
