Hello all! i'm looking for someonewho has stayed at Gulf State Park's campground in Gulf Shores, AL. Anyone out there? We're considering staying there, but would love to have someone's input.

It's been a couple of years since we were there, but we enjoyed the park, the sites were shady, and pretty easy set up. The bath houses were clean, kinda rustic, not air conditioned. The gulf is not convenient to the park, however. You have to cross a major road, park in a public lot, to get to the beach!

We were there in July and the water was terrible, full of sandmites and green slime. There is a fresh water lake that is part of the park, so my kids played in that.

It is convenient to Mobile, if you want to go to the USS Alabama, or even Pensacola to the Naval Air Station Museum.
